Nintendo closed out its 81st Annual General Meeting of Shareholders last week by tackling a question regarding classic products. One investor asked if there are future plans for a mini series like the NES and SNES Classic Editions or other online content.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa responded with the following:

Nintendo Switch

There have been fairly regular reports claiming that Nintendo has a new Switch model in the works, but at least thus far, nothing has materialized. The latest rumor came from Bloomberg, with the outlet claiming at the end of May that a reveal could have taken place right before E3 2021. Of course, that didn’t happen in the end.

The topic of a new Switch model did come up during Nintendo’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders last week. President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about these reports, to which he stated:

Ring Fit Adventure

Ring Fit Adventure has undoubtedly been one of Nintendo’s breakout hits of the Switch era. Not only has the title generated global interest, but it has also sold over seven million copies. It makes sense then that many are hoping that there will be more to come from the concept.

During Nintendo’s 81st Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, an investor actually asked if there are plans for a sequel. President Shuntaro Furukawa responded, and did that the company “would like to take various initiatives so many people continue to play this title.”

Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online has been going for three years strong. We’ve seen the introduction of classic games on the console, new titles like Tetris 99, and opportunities to try out certain titles through Game Trials.

The SNES library started up on Switch Online in 2019. Since then though, the lineup of classics has been a bit static. Some have hoped that Nintendo could expand the offerings with N64 or Game Boy games.
