Mortal Kombat 11 Switch update coming soon to make it at parity with the PS4 / Xbox One versions

Mortal Kombat 11 director Ed Boon has confirmed that a new update is coming soon to the Switch version of the game. It should be available this week – around Friday – or early next week, Boon said.
Specifics about the patch have not been shared. However, Boon did note that the update will “make it at parity with the PS4 and Xbox One versions.” Stay tuned for further information.
Fire Emblem Heroes to kick off Darkness Within summoning event this week

Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have revealed the next summoning event for Fire Emblem Heroes. In Darkness Within, Mareeta, Berkut, Corrin, and Tiki will be featured.

Tales of series surpasses 20 million units sold worldwide

Bandai Namco today announced a new milestone for the Tales of series. Since the original game’s release, over 20 million units have been sold worldwide.

Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike, Clu Clu Land confirmed for Nintendo Switch Online this month

A few days ago, Nintendo’s own website appeared to leak the lineup of games being added to Switch Online for the month of May. Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike, and Clu Clu Land were all listed as upcoming titles. Nintendo has now confirmed the news officially.
Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike, and Clu Clu are indeed this month’s NES releases. All three are slated for May 15.

Smash Bros. Ultimate hosting “Mum’s the Word!” Spirit Board event this week

Nintendo has announced the latest Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board event. This week, the theme is “Mum’s the Word!”, in which motherly spirits will be appearing. Battles won while the event is active will provide you with a Health Drain item and triple the SP you’d normally receive.
The latest Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board event should kick off on Friday. Like past events, look for it to last a few days.
Art surfaces for gaming cartoons that weren’t produced, including Metroid with a male Samus

Some incredibly interesting promo art has surfaced from an estate sale for a former DIC Animation City employee. Four cartoons are featured: Double Dragon, California Games, Castlevania, and Metroid.
You’ll notice that these images are all branded with “Super Mario Bros. Power Hour”. It’s unclear what this is about, though Kotaku speculates that it was possibly a planned expansion or sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, which started airing in 1989.
