Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - reversible cover

Nintendo has seemingly included an extra goodie with physical copies of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Copies are starting to circulate, and it appears that a reversible cover is included featuring Funky Kong.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has offered a reversible cover. Bayonetta 2 received the same treatment earlier in the year.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Pinball FX3

Zen Pinball Pinball FX3 is getting a “major update” next week, Zen Studios has announced. Players will be able to download the patch on May 3.

Zen Studios hasn’t outlined the full specifics, but Pinball FX3 will soon be able to run at 60 frames per second in handheld mode. And when docked, it should run at full 1080p.

Note that when the patch goes live, old saved games will be wiped, so players are encouraged to complete all games in progress on each table before updating.

Bouncy Bob, from SONKA and All Those Moments, is out today on the Switch eShop. Take a look at some footage below.

KORG Gadget - Nintendo Switch

The music creation software KORG Gadget launched on the Switch eShop this week. Unfortunately, it has a major limitation. Currently there is no native way of exporting any music created.

What does that mean if you’re looking to take your song outside of KORG Gadget? The developer currently recommends recording the audio from either the headphone output in the body of the Switch, or from HDMI audio output. Obviously that isn’t ideal.

The Good Life - Nintendo Switch

The Good Life is a new game from SWERY and Yukio Futatsugi, along with their teams at White Owls and Grounding. SWERY, otherwise known as Hidetaka Suehiro, directed Deadly Premonition, D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, and more.

We’ve actually covered The Good Life on the site previously. The team hoped to fund its game through Fig last year, but the project did not reach its goal. The Good Life then recently returned on Kickstarter, though this time without Switch support.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is about a month and a half away, and EA is looking to capitalize through an update for FIFA 18.

Video game distributor US-1 America is listing a new version of FIFA 18 – releasing on Switch – that will include all 32 teams that made the World Cup (players and shirts match their WC uniforms) and the four major teams that did not qualify – USA, Chile, Italy, and Holland. The original game is included, but those who already have it should be able to get the extra content as well.

Some of the finer points are still a bit unclear. It’s assumed that EA will be offering the World Cup content as a free update, though that’s not confirmed at this time. EA should be making an official announcement soon.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Ultimate Edition

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is out now in Europe, with the North American version to follow in May. We have the official launch trailer below.

Super Mario Run has brought back once of its well-known events. Until May 11, the appearance rate of 5-star items in the Bonus Game will be increased. You’ll have a better opportunity to obtain the 5-star Mario, Peach, or Bowser statues, and more.

Earlier in the year, the Norwegian Consumer Council called out Nintendo for its eShop policies. Currently, it’s impossible to cancel pre-orders at any point before launch.

Despite asking Nintendo to change its ways and comply with the rules, the NCC says nothing has happened. A formal complaint is now being filed against Nintendo as well as a few other gaming companies. The company is said to be going against the 2011 Consumer Rights Directive that grants “a higher level of protection for consumers … in their own country or elsewhere in the EU.”

NCC’s Finn Lützow-Holm Myrstad stated that breaching Norwegian and European consumer contracts “shows a lack of clarity”.
