[Let’s Talk] The New 2DS XL
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Let's Talk | 27 Comments
Probably the biggest piece of Nintendo news this week was the reveal of the New 2DS XL. A new hardware announcement was definitely unexpected – especially another iteration of the 3DS.
But here we are. The 2DS XL exists. It’s like a combination of the New 3DS XL and 2DS, so it makes sense that the $150 price point also falls between the two.
Many of the New 3DS XL features are here. You’re getting the same large screen, power, and built-in NFC support. There’s no stereoscopic 3D support, but the system is lighter.
So what does everyone make of the New 2DS XL? Do you have any interest in it at all? Do you believe it’s smart for Nintendo to be introducing another model of the 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.

Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is in development for Switch. That’s according to Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch, who revealed this information to Nintendo Everything in a recent interview.
Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn was originally funded on Indiegogo in 2014. At the time, it seemed like a Wii U version had been secured. We’re unsure if Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is still planned for Wii U, but now that Switch has arrived, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear about its cancellation.

With more players getting their hands on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe now that the racer has officially released, people are beginning to notice more changes made from the original Wii U version. We aren’t talking about anything substantial, but there are some interesting things here and there.
One of these changes concerns Mii. Most players are in agreement that they just aren’t as expressive as they were originally on Wii U. As players on Reddit and USGamer point out, Miis don’t really emote anymore.
Below are a few comparisons:
Again, we’re not talking about something truly substantial here. This is something that some players may not even notice. It’s an interesting change though, and one that could either be intentional or not.

Genyo Takeda isn’t fully stepping away from Nintendo
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 17 Comments
Included with Nintendo’s latest financial results was news concerning longtime employee Genyo Takeda. Takeda, a “Technology Fellow” who worked at the company for well over 40 years, is retiring as of June.
Takeda isn’t leaving Nintendo entirely, however. President Tatsumi Kimishima addressed Takeda’s status during the Q&A session of a financial results briefing this week. According to Kimishima, he will still be on hand as an adviser, as Nintendo needs his support to educate younger staff. His relationships, experience, and knowledge are also key.
Kimishima reiterated the same comments with Nikkei, noting that Takeda is a very important talent and has been involved with the development of hardware down to Switch with his leadership. After his resignation, he will not only be supporting the development of new technology, but will also instruct younger staff.
