Further details on how Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem came to be
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 2 Comments
Nintendo producer Hitoshi Yamagami, who is working on Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, further explained how the project came to be in this week’s issue of Famitsu.
According to Yamagami, things began back in 2009. As he explained:
“Our initial contact with Atlus was back in 2009 when we developed the game Itsumo Purikura ? Kuradeko Puremium. Afterwards, Ando said ‘I want to make a game that mixes Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei,’ so I went to Atlus with the proposal.”
Atlus responded by saying “Let us think about it”, which essentially meant no. Nintendo was later told, “We’re too busy and can’t do it right now.”
Although Yamagami was disappointed that Atlus turned down his proposal, he did feel like a partnership could be made a reality one day.
“I was really bummed about it, but it wasn’t as though they had straight out said no, so I told Ando, ‘I’m sure we’ll cross paths with them again some time.’”
Yamagami ended up receiving an email over a year later from Atlus’ Naoto Hiraoka, who asked if talks were still open. It didn’t take long for Nintendo and Atlus to be in communication once again.
Atlus producer Shinjiro Takada told Famitsu that, during the original proposal, the team was busy with Devil Survivor 2. Takada always thought of Fire Emblem as a rival title that he looked at as a goal. Takada mentioned: “That Nintendo wanted to collaborate with us with such a big title was a huge honor and I really wanted to do it.”

Rumor: Palutena amiibo won’t be retailer-exclusive in the U.S.
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 6 Comments
Two more amiibo are due out in North America later this month. Dark Pit is scheduled for July 31, and Palutena is also coming out on the same day.
You may recall that Best Buy recently announced that it will be the only retailer in the United States to sell the Dark Pit amiibo. This has led some to wonder if Palutena will be meeting the same fate. Apparently not, if the latest rumors are to be believed.
Nintendo Inquirer has heard from “a reliable source within the community” that a Nintendo representative confirmed Palutena’s non-exclusivity. This would certainly be encouraging news for amiibo collectors!

Here’s everything you need to know about Doctor Who’s presence in LEGO Dimensions:
Doctor Who, which has never before been in a LEGO videogame, will be playable in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack with a complete Doctor Who level where the game’s heroes continue their quest while encountering Daleks, Cybermen and other adversaries from the Whoniverse.
Fans who want more Doctor Who in LEGO Dimensions will be able to purchase the Doctor Who Level Pack which includes an additional mission-based Doctor Who level, along with a LEGO minifigure of the 12th Doctor and LEGO models of the TARDIS and K-9, all playable in the game. When the 12th Doctor is defeated in the level, he returns as the 1st Doctor and then regenerates back up to the 12th Doctor again. The interior of the TARDIS will reflect the corresponding Doctor the player embodies or can be manually selected. There’s even a jukebox inside where players can choose among different versions of the Doctor Who theme music. The TARDIS and K-9 models can each be physically built and then rebuilt twice to do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety.
There will also be a Doctor Who Fun Pack, which includes a playable Cyberman minifigure and Dalek model which can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects.
Finally, Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed that actors from Doctor Who will be reprising their roles in LEGO Dimensions. This includes:
– Peter Capaldi – 12th Doctor
– Jenna Coleman – Clara Oswald
– Michelle Gomez – Missy
