Sonic the Hedgehog

Roger Craig Smith indicated today that he is stepping away from the role of Sonic the Hedgehog. SEGA has now made the news official, and passed along a statement as well.

It reads in full:

Pokemon will soon be teaming up with McDonald’s in celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

On February 9, Happy Meals will include promo cards, sticker sheets, and some sort of card frame. You’ll receive four of 25 promos featuring the starter Pokemon from each region. As noted by PokeBeach, each card is a reprint but with a 25th anniversary stamp featured in the corner.

If you’re not interested in the Happy Meals, you can purchase the Pokemon items separately.

After a decade in the role, it appears that Roger Craig Smith will no longer be voicing Sonic the Hedgehog.

As shared on social media today just a few minutes ago:

Another Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity reward has joined My Nintendo in North America. For 1,000 Platinum Points, you can get your hands on an acrylic panel art.

Turrican

Factor 5 was responsible for some notable Star Wars games on the N64 and GameCube many years ago. The studio is also well-known for the Turrican series, which is now returning on Switch.

Factor 5 studio founder Julian Eggebrecht spoke about the past, present, and future of Turrican in an interview with Eurogamer. One interesting subject discussed was Tornado, a spiritual successor planned as a 3D title and was initially pitched as a Nintendo-published project. Sadly, it was put on hold and never touched again so that Star Wars: Rogue Squadron could be ready for the GameCube’s launch.

Eggebrecht said:

There are a number of different activities at Super Nintendo World, including the Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge ride. The first video showing off the attraction has now emerged.

Here’s the footage in full:

Nintendo has announced plans to distribute the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack, which will be making its North American debut. It will contain “all six amiibo cards from this unique Sanrio Collaboration Series”. The amiibo cards can be used “in compatible games”, and more information “will be revealed in the future.”

In North America, Target will be selling the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack exclusively for $5.99. It will be offered “at select retailers and online across Europe.”
