Nintendo has gone on the record and confirmed that it previously released a new version of the Switch to counter hacking.
Nintendo of America filed a lawsuit against Team Xecuter hacker Gary Bowser last year, which resulted in a 40-month prison sentence. New details about the case have since come to light as court documents have been published.

Nintendo has filed a pair of interesting copyrights ahead of next year’s debut of the Mario movie: Nintendo Studios and M Brothers Productions.
Both of these names have been spotted in the U.S. trademark database under the page for the film. The thought is that Nintendo will be listing its movies under Nintendo Studios and M Brothers Productions going forward, as both should be specifically for visual content production.
Five Nintendo franchises that would make for a great movie

The Mario movie is coming out next year and while very little is known about it, its delay in April hasn’t given Nintendo fans a lot of confidence in the production. Of course, it’s too early to tell if it will be a good movie or not, but what is interesting to discuss is what other Nintendo properties would be good movies.
When we consider this, it’s fair to ask – what makes a “good” movie? Is it the plot, memorable characters, an amazing soundtrack, or lots of Morbin’? I would say all that helps (especially the Morbin’), but when it comes to conceptualizing a movie from a video game, there’s a greater thing to consider: how does the core premise fits into a cinematic wrapper?

Before the pandemic, Nintendo had a pretty big presence at Gamescom, but it won’t be involved with the show for 2022.
The company had playable games, stage shows with news and announcements, and more in previous years. Unfortunately though, that won’t be the case for 2022.

Devolver Direct 2022 will be taking place on June 9, 2022, Devolver Digital has announced. It will be held as part of Summer Game Fest.
Devolver Direct will continue the “story” that started with with Nina Struthers in 2017. It’s been teased that “Mecha Suda51” will act as a host (Suda51 is the creator of No More Heroes). Sprinkled in the madness will be a few new announcements here and there, some of which should have some relevance to Switch.

Ubisoft won’t be hosting an E3-style showcase this month, the publisher has confirmed.
E3 itself won’t be happening this year, but a number of companies are still moving forward with traditional presentations and online events over the next few weeks. We did also see Ubisoft Forward last June, though ultimately there won’t be anything like that again for the summer. However, Ubisoft is at least planning a showcase for “later this year.”

Junichi Masuda stepping down from Game Freak, appointed as Chief Creative Fellow at The Pokemon Company

An official press release from The Pokemon Company has just confirmed that Junichi Masuda is leaving his former role as Game Freak’s Managing Director to become The Pokemon Company’s Chief Creative Fellow, effective immediately. Essentially, that means that while he should no longer be directly involved with the development of the series’ games, he will now be focusing on managing the franchise as a whole.
Junichi Masuda’s role in the development of the Pokemon franchise is a noteworthy one; he has been involved in the development of the games ever since the original Pokemon Red Version and Green Version, has directed several games in the franchise himself, and has generally assisted in the development of other games in the franchise, such the mobile spin-off title Pokemon Go. In a way, his new role in the company should mimic that of Shigeru Miyamoto, who also stepped into the role of Creative Fellow at Nintendo to focus more on managing their brand rather than be directly involved in developing their games.
Included below is a transcript of The Pokemon Company’s full PR statement, including a comment from Junichi Masuda himself:
