This information comes from Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima…

The palm-sized Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition, a home console that recalls the nostalgia for Nintendo’s 1990s hardware, went on sale overseas in September, and in Japan in October.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition has reached a sell-through of 2 million units worldwide, at latest tallies.

From the collaborations with Vans, Uniqlo, and LeSportsac in the fashion world to the recent crossover Mario + Rabbids title to the Super Nintendo World project with Universal Studios, it might be hard to remember a time when Nintendo seemed reserved in terms of joint ventures.

However, in a recent interview with Mashable, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime reasons that the company’s early experiences licensing its properties left a long-lasting, negative impression on many of Nintendo’s developers.

He explains:

SEGA’s latest annual report has updated total sales figures for a bunch of different franchises. Along with data for its own series like Sonic, we also have numbers for IPs like Megami Tensei and Etrian Odyssey.

Here’s the full breakdown:

We already knew that the SNES Classic is doing quite well so far – it sold over 368,000 units in Japan in its first four days on the market in Japan and it outsold all current consoles in the US in September. We now have some more concrete numbers coming from Nintendo’s recent financial results meeting. According to the Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, Nintendo has stated that as of September 30th, 1.7 million units of the SNES Classics had been shipped worldwide.

Original: Amazon has started taking pre-orders for the Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition. If you’d like to reserve the special version of the book, you can do so here.

The Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition cover features a gold foil paper with gloss lamination and a spot gritty varnish. The details are embossed and debossed, and it has gold gilding on the top and foredge, with black gilding on the bottom. It’s basically a tribute to the original Zelda cartridge.

Retailers have opened pre-orders for the new Mizuki / Selene figma. This is the female protagonist in Pokemon Sun/Moon.

The figure comes with a standard face plate and a smiling face based on her official artwork. Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio are also included. A shoulder bag, Pokeball, and Z-Ring, are in the package as well for optional parts.

You can pre-order the figma on Play-Asia, Good Smile, or AmiAmi. We have some additional photos below.

Nintendo kicked off Switch’s launch with a bang thanks to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If that wasn’t enough, Super Mario Odyssey has arrived just in time for the holidays. These two games have helped made Switch’s first year very special.

Reggie spoke about having Zelda and Mario ready early on for Switch in an interview with TechCrunch. He noted that Nintendo was lucky in terms of the development schedule, with a game like Breath of the Wild being far along in development.

Reggie said:

3DS is getting two more Pokemon games next month in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. However, they aren’t entirely new. Both build upon last year’s original Pokemon Sun/Moon. Game Freak has decided to introduce another pair of Sun/Moon titles, following a similar approach to Black 2/White 2 rather than something like Pokemon Crystal or Pokemon Platinum in which a single follow-up game was introduced.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon director Kazumasa Iwao spoke with GameSpot about the idea behind these latest games and why making two versions made sense. Here’s what he shared on the subject:

Nintendo is closing down Miiverse next month. But before it ended, a special “Everybody’s Message” community opened where users could share some of their last drawings.

Nintendo collected some of the images that Miiverse visitors created and made a special collage out of it all. The official announcement about the collage, as well as a link to the full-sized version, can be found below.
