E3 2017 dated, this year’s show sees a slight dip in attendance

At the end of each E3, we usually find out when the following year’s show will take place. That’s no different this time around. The ESA has made it known that E3 2017 will take place between June 13 and June 15 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
As for this year’s E3, 50,300 people attended the expo. This is a 3.6 percent drop year-over-year. In 2015, 52,200 people attended E3.
Miyamoto open to a Sheik spin-off, Nintendo has considered it

There could come a day when Nintendo comes out with a new Zelda spin-off that stars Sheik. That’s based on new comments from Shigeru Miyamoto, who indicated to GameRant that there have been discussions “within the development team” regarding “how it might be cool to have a game” with the character.
Miyamoto went on to say that such a project wouldn’t be “an impossibility.”
His words in full:
“Within the development team, too, there have been talks about how it might be cool to have a game that features Sheik as a protagonist. It’s having maybe a Zelda spin-off with Sheik as a protagonist, for example, I don’t think that’s an impossibility.”

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida very excited about Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Plenty of people are looking forward to Zelda: Breath of the Wild… including Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida. During a PlayStation live stream yesterday, Yoshida mentioned the adventure game as one he’s very excited about.
Yoshida said:
“I just played Zelda! The new Zelda game. You know, open world, and hunting. And I had a bizarre feel, this feels like Horizon. This is a epic, huge game. I can not wait to play Zelda again when it comes out.”

Story of Seasons series will be getting same-sex relationships in the future

Story of Seasons doesn’t have same-sex relationships… yet. It’s definitely something Marvelous is keeping in mind, however.
Producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto told Polygon:
“It’s not like we’re not thinking about [same-sex relationships]. We know that it has to be there sometime in the future. If we have to allow same-sex [relationships], we have to put more characters who are the same gender. As a game, it’s going to be so much more volume, two or three times more. It’s going to be a little difficult.”
When Polygon brought up Stardew Valley, which has a variety of relationships, he said that Story of Seasons will catch up “sooner or later.”
Zelda was the most-tweeted about game at E3 2016

Twitter has proclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as the most-tweeted about game on the social-media site.
The upcoming NX and Wii U game experienced 573,000 tweets. That’s double the number of mentions of its nearest rival, Battlefield 1.

Skylanders Academy premieres on Netflix this fall

Skylanders Academy, the first production from the new television and film company Activision Blizzard Studios, is premiering this fall. Activision announced the news today and also revealed that the show will air on Netflix.
Here’s an overview of the series:
The series follows the heroic adventures of the Skylanders team, a group of heroes with unique elemental skills and personalities who travel the vast Skylands universe, protecting it from evil-doers and showing the next wave of Academy cadets how to do things the “Skylander way.” Created by Toys For Bob, the $3 billion Skylanders franchise has sold through more than 250 million toys since pioneering the toys-to-life category in 2011, and earlier this month Activision revealed Skylanders Imaginators™, the latest innovation in the franchise.
Skylanders Academy is being produced under the supervision of showrunner Eric Rogers (“Futurama”) and features the voices of Justin Long (“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ask Me Anything”) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb,” “High School Musical”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. There’s also voice talent from The Diamond Minecart, Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Bobcat Goldthwait, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jonny Rees, Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.
Activision Blizzard Studios co-presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk will are joined by Sander Schwartz, the Emmy award-winning producer of animated hits including “The Batman,” “The Aquabats! Super Show!” and “Justice League: The New Frontier,” as the show’s executive producers. TeamTO studio in France is in charge of animation.

Nintendo’s E3 2016 booth features a 24-minute day-night cycle

Nintendo went all out with its E3 2016 booth and representation of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Believe it or not, the setup actually has a day-night cycle.
Nintendo says that the booth shifts from day to night continuously every 24 minutes. One minute represents an hour, of course. That’s the same cycle from Ocarina of Time and other Zelda games.
Aside from the day-night cycle, the booth features moblins, chirping birds and ambient noises like a thunderstorm and crickets, statues, a theater with a screen that retracts into the ceiling to reveal a secret passageway, and even smell-o-vision for scents such as a musty aroma.
Nintendo talks a bit about its E3 2016 booth

Nintendo’s E3 2016 booth is entirely dedicated to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Those are the only demo stations you’ll find, but the booth itself is decked out with a theme based on the game as well.
Here’s what Charlie Scibetta, senior director of corporate communications at Nintendo, had to say about the booth:
“We just wanted to create an immersive experience in the booth and dedicate everything to the one game by replicating the experience happening in the game. It’s an open-air adventure. You can feel one with nature. You can hear the sound of wind in the booth. We have fans. We have real grass. Everything is to scale. We wanted to go big with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s very much a nature kind of experience.”
