Reggie doesn’t think we’ll see more mini Nintendo systems
Posted on 2 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
The NES Classic Edition, a miniature replica of the NES with thirty games, came out in 2016 followed by a SNES version the following year. Some have hoped that Nintendo could try out something similar with other systems like the N64 or even the Game Boy, but we haven’t seen anything like that. Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime believes we won’t see anything like it again.
Reggie was asked about the possibility of more miniature systems while speaking with CNET. In his view, it’s not something Nintendo will revisit. Reggie believes Nintendo should instead pursue more N64 titles for Nintendo Switch Online as well as the addition of GameCube and Wii.

New details uncovered for cancelled Kid Kirby game
Posted on 2 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
A fresh set of details have emerged about Kid Kirby, a game that was once planned for the SNES.
DMA Design, the studio that went on to become Rockstar North and a primary developer of the Grand Theft Auto series, was put in charge of the project. It would have featured the SNES Mouse add-on with players using the device to launch Kirby through levels. Unfortunately, Nintendo ended up scrapping the project after development failed to properly progress, and the SNES Mouse was far from a sales success.

Original Pokemon games almost didn’t have multiplayer battles
Posted on 2 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
According to Pokemon producer Shigeki Morimoto, the original entries in the series almost left out multiplayer battles.
That news comes from a Japanese Pokedex book from 1996, which was recently translated by Did You Know Gaming. Morimoto mentioned how he thought multiplayer battles “would be a pain to program”. Additionally, Game Freak was running out of time. Nintendo, however, essentially demanded for the feature to be included.
Why Nintendo Directs will never go away

We’re officially in the middle of E3 time (or when E3 would’ve been), and that means that Nintendo Direct discussion is heating up again. From so-called “leaks” to well-informed predictions, it seems like everyone has an opinion on when a presentation is coming, and what we should see in such a broadcast. This is always a fun season of thinking about what Nintendo has planned, but something that also comes up constantly when talking about this subject is: what if Nintendo just doesn’t air a Direct? And, furthermore, what if Nintendo doesn’t air one ever again?
