Jakks Pacific is preparing fully articulated figures that will be released under the company’s World of Nintendo line. One Australian retailer has outed 4-inch Mario, Yoshi, and Link toys as well as 6-inch Bowser and Donkey Kong figures. Each one will apparently be released in September.

Kotaku has obtained documents from GameStop that reveal imminent plans to revamp the retailer’s trade-in service.

Customers won’t need to delegate money towards pre-orders/promotions in order to get the most value any longer. Instead, you’ll instead be able to take advantage of flat rates. The only variations will be for GameStop Power Up Rewards members and whether you decide to receive cash instead of store credit.

GameStop’s “average base value” of games will increase by 20 percent.

Check out this excerpt from one of the GameStop documents:

“By eliminating the higher end price of products we buy and raising the lower end, we are able to raise the overall value the customers will receive. With this program, we will not have complex multi-tiered trade promotions for the associates to remember and less math for the customer to understand what they are getting for their games.”

Another excerpt details how GameStop will be asking its employees to interact with consumers with regard to trade-ins, and how they’ll be looking to use the terms “buy” and “sell” instead:

Dan Adelman has issued his own personal response about leaving Nintendo on a website he launched today.

Adelman was the founder of Nintendo of America’s digital distribution business and remained with the company for nine years. Today, however, Adelman revealed he left the company last week and is creating his own business to help smaller developers in various ways.

In any case, here’s what Adelman had to say about Nintendo – in which he also states that the eShop “is in good hands”:

Dan Adelman assisted indies during his time at Nintendo. Now, he’s going indie himself.

Adelman, the founder of Nintendo of America’s digital distribution business, intends to continue his success with the company “in a direct role on the ground across independent studios.”

An official announcement sent out by Adelman states:

During his time at Nintendo, Dan oversaw the launch of hundreds of games and advised indie developers on game design, marketing campaigns, and general business strategy. He is best known for identifying and bringing great indie games like World of Goo, Cave Story and the BIT.TRIP series to major consoles before competing platforms took notice of indie developers.

Many indie teams recognize that the business-side is crucial to success but don’t have the resources to hire a full-time business or marketing expert. In his new endeavor, Adelman will take indie developers to the next level of success by working with them as a virtual team member to help them make informed business decisions and stand out from the rising tide of indies.

Prior to joining Nintendo in 2005, Adelman was a part of the launch team for the original Xbox, handling multi-million dollar third-party publisher business development deals as well as strategy planning for Xbox Live, which included launching XBLA. He graduated with honors from Oberlin College, and has an M.A. from Nagoya University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Adelman has gone independent, and Nintendo is said to be supportive of the move.

Head past the break for some comments from Adelman on his decision to leave Nintendo and much more.

Square Enix is developing a new Dragon Quest Monsters game, the company has revealed.

At the Dragon Quest Summer Festival held at the AiiA Theater at Tokyo this weekend, producer Taichi Inuzuka teased, “We’re working on a new Dragon Quest Monsters game, and its competitiveness will be as fun as always.”

Inuzuka said that information about the new Dragon Quest Monsters game including platform for release will be announced soon.

Just prior to Nintendo’s E3 2012 conference, artists Pablo Belmonte and Paco Martínez released a video of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask opening remade in high-definition. Belmonte and Martínez have now returned with a brand new video showing a recreation of various assets, translating work into stereoscopic 3D, and more.

What exactly the two fans are planning isn’t entirely clear at present. They’re calling this a “project”. Are they developing a fan-made PC remake of Majora’s Mask? Or something more?

Next week’s issue of Famitsu will have a big scoop, as noted in the magazine’s current edition. At least if the tease leads to a disappointing reveal or a non-Nintendo announcement, we’ll be able to look forward to more coverage of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as well. Famitsu also promises a recommended games feature for readers.

The next issue of Famitsu should arrive during the middle of next week. However, as is usually the case, leaks will occur as early as Tuesday.

A report published on Japanese website Business Journal details alleged turmoil within management at Nintendo.

The article claims that there’s a shared recognition of Iwata being the culprit among management. While there is a strong desire to bring games/franchises like Mario to smartphones, Iwata is strongly vetoing the idea. Iwata reiterates that “Nintendo’s strength is in unified development of game hardware and software”, stubbornly rejects the “net” (seems to reference how smartphones don’t use physical media since they download games), and fixates over “game consoles” – perhaps in light of his pride as a former developer.
