Goodbye! BoxBoy! revealed for 3DS, amiibo incoming, retail package for Japan

Nintendo has made a flurry of new announcements pertaining to the BoxBoy! franchise today.

First, Goodbye! BoxBoy! is in the works for 3DS. We don’t have too much information yet, but a teaser site is located here. It’s coming out on February 2 for 680 yen.

Here’s some gameplay:

A BoxBoy! Qbby amiibo is also launching on February 2. It’s said to unlock secrets, though the specifics are currently under wraps. It will be included in a limited retail package containing all three games along with an official soundtrack for 3,456 yen. The OST will contain 34 pieces from the series.

New Pokken Tournament arcade trailer shows first footage of Empoleon

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero releases on December 20th for Wii U

After several delays, we finally have a confirmed release date for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The game will release digitally for Wii U on December 20th in both Europe and North America.

Made public in a Kickstarter update, WayForward shared the news and noted that retail versions are still on the way.

If you’re curious about the retail versions, look to Xseed for an announcement shortly! Spread the word! Half-Genie Hero is just a couple of weeks away!

Niantic reverts Pokemon GO gym training rewards following player feedback

A Pokemon GO update was implemented last month which affected training at Gyms. Fans weren’t pleased with the changes, but training rewards have returned to their original levels.

Niantic posted on Facebook earlier today:

After November’s Pokemon GO update, the amount of prestige points players could earn at gyms reduced to 500. That was a big drop from the original number of 1,000. These points are necessary to level up Gyms and protect them further.

Altered Beast and Streets of Rage film / TV adaptations move forward

It was nearly two years ago when we first heard about TV and film adaptations of various SEGA franchises. Two have now been formally announced: Altered Beast and Streets of Rage.

Stories International is working with Circle of Confusion to make the new Altered Beast and Streets of Rage adaptations possible. Stories International president/CEO Tomoya Suzuki is producing with Circle of Confusion partner Lawrence Mattis and Julian Rosenberg. Evan J. Cholfin, head of development and production, is serving as executive producer for Stories International.

New partners are being sought to work on film and television projects of other SEGA IPs. Stories International is currently looking into studios, producers, and filmmakers to co-develop adaptations for the likes of Golden Axe and Virtua Fighter. Marc Platt is involved with a Shinobi movie.

Mattis said today: “These are some of the most well loved SEGA games, and we are thrilled to be working with Stories to adapt them into major film and television franchises.”

Get Magearna in Pokemon Sun/Moon with this new QR code

The first Mythical Pokemon is now up for grabs in Pokemon Sun/Moon. By using a new QR code, players can obtain Magearna.

Before anything else, you’ll need to complete the main story. You can then select the QR Scanner function and use the image below. After visiting the deliveryman at the Antiquities of the Ages shop in Hau’oli City, Magearna will be yours.

Note: this QR code is only valid in North America. We should have some news for European players tomorrow.
