The World of Nintendo toy line expands later this month with a 4-inch Shadow Link figure. Spencer’s has it exclusively, which can now be pre-ordered Source

It’s taken awhile, but Mighty No. 9 will finally be launching this month. Things unfortunately did not go smooth for the game, as it was pushed back quite a few times.

Creator Keiji Inafune once again apologized for the delays while speaking with 4Gamer. He told the site:

“We deeply apologize to the fans and backers for having taken much longer than expected. I learned again how difficult it can be to make a game. (The reason of delay) was not because we were shorthanded, but due to how we were going to sell it, and then biting more than we can chew after declaring that it will be released for all the hardware. But it was a good [learning] experience.”

The latest footage of Etrian Odyssey V was shown during the first episode of Etrian Radio, now up on Atlus’ YouTube page. The recording with gameplay is below – primarily showing customization.

After hitting the North American Wii U eShop a few weeks ago, Dual Core will be heading to Europe later this month. A listing from the store pins the game down for June 23 in PAL territories. Pricing is set at €9.99.

Noitu Love: Devolution was announced for Wii U and 3DS towards the very end of last year. The latest we heard had it targeted for release in March/April on Nintendo’s platforms, but that obviously didn’t happen. Fortunately, the game is still coming.

Mathias Kærlev provided an update on Twitter yesterday, and confirmed that the 3DS version is done. It should be out in early July if all goes well.

As for Wii U, Kærlev had this to say:

Various members of the media were recently given the opportunity to go hands-on with Pokemon GO. One such outlet was GamesBeat, who has now written up a comprehensive report on the game. The site has information about the different aspects of gameplay, microtransactions, Pokemon GO Plus device, and more.

We’ve rounded up all of the details in summary form below. You can also read GamesBeat’s full piece here.

Basics

– Same data sets as Ingress are used: monuments, parks, and other local areas of intrigue
– Combination of the real world and the digital

“If you said, ‘What’s the core essence of the game?’ it is that trying to mimic what the world would be like if Pokémon really lived in it. That’s the fundamental mission of the game. They’re out there and you have to discover them and capture them.” – Niantic CEO John Hanke

– Customizable avatar
– Have your own level
– Your level goes up as you do tasks like catching Pokémon or battling at gyms
– Achievements included for things like how long you have walked, how many Pokémon you’ve caught, and even some for different-sized critters
– One achievement example” Big Magikarp achievement
– Map screen is the main interface
– This shows your real-world location and points of interest across the map
– PokeStops: blue cubes where you can collect items, Pokemon show up on the map as icons of each Pokemon
– Gyms show up initially as white icons, and then change based on which team is in control
– Catch Pokemon or collect items from PokeStops by walking close to those locations on the map

“To me … the heart of the game is integrating that sort of discovery and fun of the video game with the fun of being outside and exploring new places. I just think that’s a great combo and I hope players are into it.” – Hanke

– Pokemon GO will vibrate when you get close to a location of interest
– This is only when the app is open and on-screen
– Also has a low-power screen mode if you turn your phone upside down while walking to help conserve battery life
– Pokemon GO will still work and have places for people to visit even if you aren’t living in a major metropolitan city

Nikkei Trendy published a new interview with Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino. There was plenty of talk about Yo-kai Watch, including the first game’s performance in North America, the next Yo-kai Watch movie, and Yo-kai Watch 3. He also shared a status update on Snack World and what lies ahead for the company.

Siliconera rounded up details from the interview, which we’ve summarized below. You can read their full article here.

Yo-kai Watch sales

– Anime has received favorable TV ratings
– Games are at around 400,000 copies sold in North America
– Hino says that looking at it from a Yo-kai Watch perspective, that’s not nearly enough.
– It takes time for things to start catching on in North America
– Level-5 is putting together a plan of having things bloom like a flower in half a year or a year from now
– Specifics weren’t shared
– Hino noted that the idea is to have North America get content that Japan has yet to see, or some content before Japan, or at the least at the same time Japan gets it

Yo-kai Watch movie

– Third film will have live action and anime parts
– Was originally planned as a full-CG film
– This would have taken two years, which would have been the case for a full live-action film as well
– Level-5 wants a new film each year and thought of ways to make that happen, including its whole story

If you’re a North American Pokemon newsletter subscriber, an email containing a code for Mew should be making its way to your inbox. Codes to redeem the Mythical Pokemon in X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire are going out this morning. They can be redeemed through August 31.

Simon Kemp, general manager for Nintendo UK, is department from the company. MCV received word that he’s leaving ‘to pursue opportunities for a change of career outside Nintendo.’

Nintendo said in a statement:

“Simon has performed the role of general manager of Nintendo UK since November 2012. Nintendo would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his services to Nintendo UK and to wish him every success in his choice of new career.”

Kemp became Nintendo UK’s boss after replacing David Yarnton in 2012. For the moment, Stephan Bole will take over his role, who is senior managing director for European subsidiaries. Nintendo is now looking into a permanent replacement for Kemp.
