The Western release of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is getting closer and closer, now being only a mere month and a half away. Today, Nintendo of Europe issued a press release about the game, alongside some screenshots. The press release doesn’t reveal any new info, but it’s a nice summary of what the game is about. Also be sure to check out the screenshots at the bottom of the post, which reveal a bit more of the English localization.

3^rd May 2016 – Anyone ready to take on a totally new kind of RPG experience should get ready to give a virtuoso performance in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, arriving on Wii U across Europe on 24^th June. In this new title from the RPG masters at Atlus, tactical turn-based combat and a story rooted in modern-day Japanese culture combine with stellar production values for a real one-off experience. This energetic game features a deep battle system inspired by both the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei series imbued with a J-Pop twist, and includes real-life locations in Tokyo.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE follows a squad of Japanese teens, including high-school student Itsuki Aoi, his friend Touma Akagi, and aspiring pop idol Tsubasa Oribe. When a wave of evil Mirages attacks Tokyo and kidnaps Tsubasa, she and Itsuki fearlessly fight them off with the help of Fire Emblem characters Chrom and Caeda, eventually freeing themselves from the Idolasphere. When they return to the real world, they’re recruited by Talent Agency Fortuna Entertainment – secret defenders against the invading Mirages – and commit to destroying the evil once and for all.

As the story unfolds, players will explore dungeon-style Idolaspheres, each with a unique theme such as photography or television, where they’ll battle Mirages in richly strategic turn-based combat. Exploiting enemy weaknesses, inspired by Fire Emblem’s “rock-paper-scissors” weapon triangle system, deals extra damage and can lead to Sessions: combination attacks where teammates continue the onslaught to pile on the damage. Battle possibilities expand even further as combatants learn new skills and abilities, giving tacticians the ability to unleash spectacular special moves and devastate their opponents with strike after strike.

Players’ journey through this stylish adventure will be accompanied by the original Japanese voice acting (with English subtitles), as well as the original soundtrack created by Japanese company Avex, to fully immerse fans in a modern-day Tokyo beset by evil mirages.

Launching alongside the solus game on 24^th June, the limited Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Fortissimo Edition should be music to RPG fans’ ears. Arriving with an artbook, six-track Special Vocal Selection CD, song lyric cards and stickers, it also includes a download code for all planned downloadable content. These three packs, which will also be available to purchase separately in Nintendo eShop, include additional dungeon quests and costumes for several characters for the complete Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE experience.

The Animal Crossing UK Twitter account announced today that a total 1 million packs of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards have been sold in Europe. In Europe, each pack contains only three cards, meaning 3 million individual cards have been sold. At Nintendo’s recent financial results briefing for the past fiscal year, it was revealed that worldwide sales of amiibo cards were at 28.9 million individual cards.

Indie platformer VVVVVV has been removed from the North American 3DS eShop after a new 3DS homebrew hack that uses the game was discovered last week. The hack allows users to run homebrew software on their 3DS, but it only works in conjunction with another “primary” entry point hack. VVVVVV creator Terry Cavanagh was aware of this exploit, but also hoped that the fact that VVVVVV by itself was not enough to run homebrew software on the 3DS would not require him to patch the game.

Well, it seems like he definitely has to do that now if he wants to keep selling his game. As of right now, VVVVVV is still available on the European 3DS eShop, but it’s likely just a matter of time before it gets pulled from that storefront as well.

The Beggar’s Ride came out as a Wii U eShop download in Europe at the very end of March. In North America, we’ll be seeing it this week. The eShop lists a May 5 release date along with a $5.99 price point.

On Friday, we heard about Limited Run Games exploring a potential physical release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. But that’s not the only Nintendo game that the company wants to pursue.

Limited Run Games has gone on the record and has mentioned that Phoenix Wright is a series the company is interested in. Specifically, they’d be open to making a physical version of Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies happen.

Here’s what Limited Run Games said on the matter a couple of days ago:

It is a possibility, but like Atelier or other big games we’d be distributing rather than publishing. We’d have to pay a pretty high per unit cost to Capcom and buy 5k+. We haven’t made any progress on Dual Destinies, but it’s a personal want of mine.

HORI has made several GamePad protectors for Wii U as of late, and another one is scheduled for launch in June. Amazon now has a listing up for a new one with a Pokeball theme, which is officially licensed by Nintendo and Pokemon.

This new HORI GamePad protector will set you back $14.99. It should be available starting on June 21.

It was pretty quiet on the maintenance front last week, but we do have some information about some downtime on Wii U and 3DS happening in a few days from now. All network services, including online play and rankings, will be unavailable during a four hour period on May 10.

Here’s when it’ll be happening:

– 4 AM PT – 8 AM PT
– 7 AM ET – 11 AM ET
– 12 PM in the UK – 4 PM in the UK
– 1 PM in Europe – 5 PM in Europe
