Yo-kai Sangokushi moved 270,000 copies during its launch weekend in Japan (April 2 and April 3). Media Create now reports that the game sold through 63.87 percent of its initial shipment.

Even though it’s a spin-off, this title’s sales fall well short in comparison to the series’ last release, Yo-kai Watch Busters. That one sold nearly 700,000 units in July 2015. However, when compared to Pokemon Conquest which was another collaboration game from the past (first week sales of 172,000 units, sell-through rate of 58.43 percent), Yo-kai Sangokushi sold much better in both numbers and sell-through rate. Given that, one could say that it’s off to a good start.

A big update is coming to Splatoon next week. Not only will version 2.7.0 be available, but eight weapons (Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1) are being added as well.

What we’ll be seeing first is some maintenance on April 12 (April 13 for those in Europe). That’ll happen during the following times:

– 4:50 PM PT – 6 PM PT
– 7:50 PM ET – 9 PM ET
– 12:50 AM in the UK – 2 AM in the UK
– 1:50 AM in Europe – 3 AM in Europe

The Sheldon’s Picks weapons will then be added at the following times:

– 7 PM PT
– 10 PM ET
– 3 AM in the UK
– 4 AM in Europe

Here’s a rundown of four of the weapons featured in Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1:

Wasabi Splattershot

This beauty is a Splattershot set featuring a few key adjustments by Sheldon. The main weapon is pretty much the same as before, but Splat Bombs amp up its frontline capability. Alternatively, try calling in an Inkstrike to scatter the opposition and give your teammates the advantage. This is just the set for the discerning Inkling looking for something spicy!

Berry Splattershot Pro

Don’t let the tasty paint job fool ya! This remixed Splattershot Pro includes Suction Bombs and Bomb Rush to help punch through the opponent’s defenses, letting you finish things off with the great firing range of the main.

Fresh Squiffer

Fresh Squiffer is a Classic Squiffer retooled to allow a different approach. Pairing Suction Bombs with the Squiffer makes it even easier to get the upper hand in battle, and you can quickly turn the tables on foes with the Kraken! Definitely not a set for squids who are afraid to get their tentacles dirty!

The Permanent Inkbrush

The Permanent Inkbrush is a set remixed by Sheldon to include the high-powered sub of Splat Bombs while retaining the great mobility of earlier models. Recommended for aggressive Inklings with an uncontrollable urge to wreak maximum havoc. Watch out for the Kraken special!

Head past the break for Splatoon’s 2.7.0 patch notes (requires 764 MB).

The Game Theorists held a live stream of both Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard during a live stream with a couple of Nintendo Treehouse staffers a little while ago. You can watch the full recording below.

Dodge Club Party, the newest game from Dot Arcade creator James Montagna, now has a confirmed release date. Montagna announced on Twitter today that the game is scheduled for April 14 on the Wii U eShop. Pricing is set at $1.99.

A field test for Pokemon GO kicked off in Japan a couple of weeks ago. Those in Australia and New Zealand will be able to give the game a go “later this month,” according to developer Niantic.

If you’re in either one of these territories, you can sign up for the field test here. Keep in mind that doing so doesn’t guarantee access.

Nintendo Badge Arcade has been down for a few hours of maintenance today. The downtime has ended, and a new update has been pushed out: version 1.3.1. It takes up 600 blocks of space.

The new version of Nintendo Badge Arcade can be grabbed from the eShop. Alternatively, you can just start the application itself.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite clear what’s new in Nintendo Badge Arcade. There are new badges today and you can participate in a fun little text adventure upon starting the app. You’ll get two free plays as well.
