With the Switch having been announced earlier today, it might be easy for some to forget about Nintendo’s two current gaming platforms: Wii U and 3DS. With Switch, Nintendo told Polygon that it’s “a home gaming system first and foremost.” They also shared a few words about Wii U and 3DS.

With 3DS, Nintendo noted that “there’s still a huge hunger for new games”, and “many more games” are on the way. As for Wii U, it’ll become “harder to find” at retail.

The full statement reads:

“Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost. We have made no announcement regarding the future of Nintendo 3DS. Obviously with sales of almost 60 million 3DS portables worldwide, there’s still a huge hunger for new games, such as Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There are many more games in the pipeline.

We have nothing to announce about the production status of Wii U. We announced in April 2016 that as we prepare for the launch of Nintendo Switch in March of 2017, Nintendo will ship 800,000 Wii U hardware units to the global market for this fiscal year. As a result, the inventory of Wii U hardware at retail will become harder to find. We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”

Original (10/20): It’s been light on the maintenance front this week, but Nintendo already scheduled some maintenance for next week. Wii U and 3DS will be impacted by a couple of hours on Monday/Tuesday, affecting certain network services such as online play and rankings.

As we’re getting closer to the release of Pokemon Sun & Moon, more and more Pokemon are being revealed – intentionally or not. In truth, the entire Pokedex has already been laid bare via datamining the demo that was released on Tuesday, but if you’re just sticking to the official channels, you don’t know everything just yet.

Another new Alola form has today been revealed, somewhat accidentally, via the cover of the official Japanese Alola Pokedex guide book. Among a variety of new Pokemon and Alola forms, you can also see the Alola form of Persian. Given Alolan Meowth, the existence of Alolan Persian is not exactly a surprise. For spoiler reasons, head past the break for a picture of it.

Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and 7th Dragon III Code: VFD have been out in North America for a while, whereas their release in Europe was still facing difficulties for a time. Then, Deep Silver announcing that it would be publishing Atlus games in Europe going forward, and set a “Winter” release date for Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. Today, Deep Silver finally announced a concrete release date: both games will be released in Europe on December 2nd. In addition, Dragon III Code: VFD will come with a bonus art book.

Kotaku was given the opportunity to speak with Pokemon Sun/Moon director Shigeru Ohmori and producer Junichi Masuda. During their chat, the starter Pokemon came up as a point of discussion.

When asked about the starter Pokemon he’ll be going with, Masuda pointed to Litten. He said:

“At home I have a really tiny cat. …it’s 3 kilograms. it crawls around, gets right on my shoulder, so I’m a cat man. I think I’ll probably go with Litten.”
