Level-5 CEO aware of the challenges in making Yo-kai Watch a success overseas
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 6 Comments
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino is aware that making Yo-kai Watch a success in the west will be challenging. In an interview with Technobubble, he said:
“We’re working in a market packed with both Pokémon and all kinds of other attractive content, so for a new entry like ours, it was going to be challenging no matter what.”
One reason behind the tough localization process is due to the “yokai” term being inherently Japanese. In other territories, there isn’t a quick and direct equivalent.
As Hino said:
“To Japanese people, yokai aren’t monsters precisely — they’re a more special kind of thing. In the past, we used the term to refer to the personified souls of people, animals, or things that made contact with and grew attached to people.”

Yo-kai Watch series reaches 10 million units sold
Posted on 8 years ago by Dennis Gagliardotto(@LyonHart_) in 3DS, News | 9 Comments
Level-5 has just announced that their popular RPG series, Yokai Watch, has surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide.
The number includes all Yokai Watch related titles, including Busters, Yo-Kai Watch 1 and 2 in Japan as well as the original’s release in the west. This is a huge milestone for the Japanese hit, and we hope to see more success from it in the future.
In Japan, expect to see the Yo-Kai Watch edition of Just Dance releasing on December 5th which comes with a whopping ten songs, with its second animated movie coming out on December 19th, followed by the third installment in the main series coming to 3DS in summer of 2016.

Rumor: Nintendo of America only allows four 3DS themes for each game
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 45 Comments
Circle Entertainment will soon be bringing The Legend of Dark Witch 3DS themes overseas. In Europe, nine will be released in total. But North America will only have access to four.
Why is this the case? Circle says that Nintendo of America only allows games to receive four themes.
The company told one fan on Twitter:
Finally, The Legend of Dark Witch themes is coming to NA/EU. 4 themes for NA, 9 themes for EU.
— CIRCLE Ent. (@CIRCLE_Ent) November 30, 2015
@BlackDarkDracon NOA only allow each title with 4 thems as maximum.
— CIRCLE Ent. (@CIRCLE_Ent) November 30, 2015
I’ll mark this as a rumor as we don’t have an official confirmation from Nintendo, but I’d have to think that Circle Entertainment knows what it’s talking about. This is rather interesting!
