March 2015 NPD: Wii U and 3DS hardware sales, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., and more
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii U | 23 Comments
The March 2015 NPD results were reported on Thursday. Nintendo neglected to share hardware sales, but we do have a couple of very close estimates. The family of 3DS systems sold roughly 260,000 – 270,000 units while Wii U moved about 80,000 – 85,000 units.
Aside from hardware sales, we have data for two 3DS titles that debuted in North America last month. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. sold just 31,000 units, based on a figure provided by reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. Fossil Fighters: Frontier also launched last month and managed to sell roughly 35,000 copies.
That’s not all on the NPD front, as cremsugar shared a few lifetime U.S. sales figures for Wii U titles as well. Those are as follows:
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – roughly 326,000 units
ZombiU – roughly 204,000 units
Bayonetta 2 – roughly 157,000 units
The Wonderful 101 – roughly 104,000 units

Fans find 5 new character spaces, more stage slots within Smash Bros. 3DS files
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 34 Comments
Fans are continuing to comb through the files in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS following the arrival of the latest patch. Interestingly enough, the discoveries don’t stop at the potential addition of Ryu and Roy to the roster.
After looking through the fighter table, it’s revealed that there are five generic “Mario” placeholders. These should be spots that will eventually be taken by other characters. One might be for Lucas and two more could be for Ryu and Roy, but it’s unclear who would take the final two slots. If nothing else, this finding may suggest that Nintendo may have plans for at least five DLC characters.
But that isn’t all! A change in the stage table reveals that the number of additional slots has been increased from 4 to 14. Given that each stage has an omega version, there’s a possibility that we could see up to 7 new stages. One of these could be a Kirby stage due to a pair of new songs found within the files – specifically “MoriStage” (Forest Stage song from Kirby’s Air Ride) and “PupuLand” (N64 remix of Dream Land from Kirby Super Star).
These findings are very, very interesting, but it’s important to remember that Nintendo has not made any announcements about upcoming DLC for Smash Bros. aside from Lucas. Even though what’s been uncovered thus far has been legitimate, we don’t truly know what the company has in store for the games.

Rhythm Heaven: The Best Plus details
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 4 Comments
This week’s issue of Famitsu shares more on Rhythm Heaven: The Best Plus. For an overview as to what was shared, read up on the summary below.
– Some new characters shown
– Story mode: help a little guy called Tebiri to get home by playing the rhythm games
– Clear games to continue
– There are gatekeepers in the game
– In addition to menus with popup-style art for selecting games shown in the Nintendo Direct, there’s a menu more akin to the old Rhythm Heaven games for the remixes
– These seem to be self contained, single columns that can be accessed from the larger story mode menu, as the button prompt to exit says “Press B to go outside”
– The column is labeled as “Forest Remix”.
– Icons seem to show a mix of new and returning games
– “Challenge Train”: download play multiplayer mode
– Choose a Challenge Course based on a theme
– Themes include “animals” or “sports”, and then work together to clear the series of games in that course
– All scoring will be more transparent, similar to Fever’s 2-player mode, with a specific score being given and each rank having a score threshold you have to meet
– Returning games: Fillbots, Figure Fighter, Airboarder, Exhibition Match, Shoot em Up, Rabbit Jump, Sneaky Spirits, Rhythm Rally, Power Calligraphy, and Dog Ninja
– “Stairs Catch” game: you seem to be tossing a pineapple between two guys climbing stairs by pressing A for one and the D-Pad for the other
– “Fruit Basketball” game: play as a wave in a pool of water and try to score baskets with fruit somehow
– “Interpreter” game: the one with the alien shown at the reveal
– “Chameleon”: might be similar to the chameleon portion of Fever’s Endless Remix
– There’s another game where you play as a cat giving an animal woodcutter logs to chop
– “The Legend of Samurai Slice”: takes the Wandering Samurai into a retro-style game
– 30 newly-made game
– 4-player multiplayer
Rhythm Heaven: The Best Plus launches in Japan on June 11.
