Switch eShop games can no longer be sold for less than $1.99

Over the years, there have been some pretty insane discounts on the Switch eShop. We’ve even seen sales in which titles were brought down to just a single penny. Now, however, it appears that Nintendo has put a price barrier in place.
According to a developer that has released multiple Switch games, a new rule has been set up. The lowest you’ll see a game is now $1.99 – excluding free-to-play titles, of course.
Last month, GameDiscoverCo founder Simon Carless spoke about Nintendo’s efforts to clamp down on those looking to exploit the Switch eShop charts with heavy discounts. In the past, publishers and developers could easily claim the top spots with a high percentage sale. Nintendo first excluded games that were discounted to a penny. The decision to set the minimum price of Switch eShop titles at $1.99 followed more recently.

Erika Harlacher and Cassandra Lee Morris, the voice actors for Ann and Morgana respectively, shared a bit of behind the scenes information during a recent discussion video. It turns out that English voice recording kicked off around April of last year. When the pandemic hit and quarantine went into effect, everything was put on hold.
Harlacher mentioned:

Update (1/9): The good news continues, as we’re now hearing reports that almost all of the games that were recently said to have been deactivated are now restored. The primary releases still missing in action include 5 in 1 Solitaire, Digger Dan & Kaboom, Face Pilot: Fly With Your Nintendo DSi Camera!, Match Up!, and Word Searcher 3. In other words, pretty much all of the big games are back.
Original (1/8): A few days ago, it was discovered that a ton of different DSi games were pulled from the 3DS eShop. For whatever reason, they simply couldn’t be purchased any longer, and Nintendo hadn’t commented on the situation.
We’re still unsure what took place, but we can now say that some of these delisted titles have returned – including Shantae: Risky’s Revenge. You can now purchase the following games once again:
