Virtuos is behind the new version of L.A. Noire
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 9 Comments
Last month, a staffer at Virtuos included a note on his LinkedIn page stating that the studio is in the process of porting a AAA title to Switch. Now we know what that mystery game is.
As revealed through Virtuos’ updated LinkedIn page, L.A. Noire is the title originally being referred to. Rockstar Games, which announced the new Switch version a few days ago, will be publishing the release on November 14.

NBA 2K18 dev wanted the Switch version to be the same as PS4/Xbox One from day one, dedicated second team
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 50 Comments
All indications thus far point to NBA 2K18 being very solid on Switch. Aside from some graphical differences, the Switch version matches up well to its counterparts on other platforms.
In an interview with Gamereactor, senior producer Rob Jones discussed the approach to creating NBA 2K18 for Switch in a bit more detail. From day one, Visual Concept’s president spoke about making it “the same exact game that was on PS4 and Xbox One”. It goes without saying that doing so was no easy task.

North American Layton’s Mystery Journey boxart
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Images | 4 Comments
Over the years, we’ve sometimes seen that the boxarts for the Layton games have seen different designs in North America and Europe. That won’t be the case with Layton’s Mystery Journey, however.
Thanks to GameFly, we have the North American packaging for Layton’s Mystery Journey, attached above. You’ll notice that the design matches what Level-5 is planning for Europe.
Below is the European Layton’s Mystery Journey boxart for comparison:

Nintendo is publishing Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters in the west at the end of this month. Going along with that, Prima has prepared a new guide.
The Yo-kai Watch 2: The Definitive Yo-kai-pedia will have all sorts of information. It will cover over 350 Yo-kai, including their battle actions, abilities, resistances, and more. You can also find out “how to make your Yo-kai even stronger and create the ultimate team with all level requirements and fusion recipes included.” The guide packs in facts about the characters as well. Topping everything off is a full-color poster and a code to access the digital version of the guide.

Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 12 Comments
The results are in for Japan’s second Splatfest in Splatoon 2. After Team Chicken McNuggets and Team French Fries faced off, Nintendo has declared a winner.
Team French Fries was by far the more popular choice with 71 percent of the vote. However, Team Chicken McNuggets had ever-so-slight edges in both solo and team battles at 51 percent each. Thanks to that, they won by a score of 2-1.
Here’s a recap of the overall results:

Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 sold through 45% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 19 Comments
Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 arrived in Japan on August 31. Up until September 3, Media Create reports that 30,000 copies were sold. The sales tracker doesn’t have any extra information, but Dengeki did come through on that front.
Dengeki reports that Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 sold through about 45 percent of its initial shipment. The game had a much lower debut than its predecessor. The first Etrian Mystery Dungeon, which came out in 2015, sold 65,000 copies in its first week (95,000 total). Because of this, the sequel looks to be off to a somewhat slow start both in terms of sales and sell-through.

Nintendo has opened the teaser site for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Switch. It’s accessible right here.
Despite being in teaser form, the site has a decent amount to check out. You can watch the E3 trailer, view some screenshots, and read up on gameplay information. The full site should open within the next few months.
Thanks to TDude73 for the tip.
