Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

Pic of the day. There will be trophies in the 3DS and Wii U games, and each version will boast different types and models. The 3DS trophies will be mainly from handhelds and the Wii U version will feature trophies from the home-console games.

3DS owners should find a new puzzle waiting for them in the StreetPass Mii Plaza. Nintendo has started sending out a panel for Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder. As long as you have SpotPass enabled, it’ll show up shortly.

Shin’en is busy working on FAST Racing Neo for the Wii U eShop. Additionally, the studio has a second new project that will be announced in the very near future.

Art director Martin Sauter said on his website that the mysterious game “should get revealed in the next few weeks”. No further information was provided.

Sauter also left the following tease about FAST Racing Neo:

I can’t post too many information at the moment, but I can cconfirm, that this will not be a simple port or remake of the Wii version. It will be a standalone, full new product and we try it to create the most exciting eShop game in 2014.

Nintendo kicked off a worldwide contest for NES Remix on Miiverse a couple of weeks ago that had players trying to complete a stage as fast as possible. However, an exploit was discovered which allowed users to unfairly manipulate their times. This has resulted in Nintendo cancelling the contest outright.

Director Koichi Hayashida wrote in a Miiverse post:

Hello Everyone. Thank you very much for participating in this event. Unfortunately, we confirmed that there is a way to exploit the challenge to achieve a faster time. In the interest of being as fair as possible, we decided to terminate the event without recognizing the fastest time. We know that you dedicated a lot of time and effort towards achieving your fastest time possible. We sincerely apologize for this matter, particularly because the vast majority of people played fairly. We appreciate your understanding. Thank you.

For those wondering, the exploit apparently lets players cheat the clock by repeatedly pausing the game.

Mutant Mudds started out as a 3DS game, but it’s now out on a bunch of different platforms. In addition to Nintendo’s handheld, the game also landed on the Wii U, PS3, PS Vita, PC, and iOS.

Yet despite the many platforms Mutant Mudds can now be found on, 3DS remains the game’s top-performing platform. Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham said on Twitter last week that the studio has “made more revenue on 3DS than all other platforms combined”.

Amazon and Best Buy have both started running several new Nintendo deals for the week of January 5.

The two retailers currently have Wii Remote Plus controllers (including the special Mario/Luigi designs), the black Wii U Pro Controller, and more on sale for 20 percent off. You can find the full set on Best Buy here. Amazon has Wiimotes on sale here and the black Wii U Pro Controller here.

Finally, Best Buy is letting consumers pre-order the Wii Fit U and Balance Board bundle for $25 off, and Amazon has Batman: Arkham Origins for $20 off.

2013 is over and 2014 has officially started. Here’s a big jumbled mess of choices that our staff members had for their 2013 games of the year!

To make an argument against the thesis that 2013 was one of the all-time best years in gaming would be a foolhardy activity. The year saw the release of instant-classics like The Last of Us and Super Mario 3D World, as well as world-stoppers like Grand Theft Auto V and Pokémon X and YZelda made a big comeback on 3DS alongside Fire Emblem, and after years of no news we finally saw the release of Pikmin 3 on Wii U. An intro paragraph like this– no matter how densely packed– could never do justice the year we’ve had, so let’s let the staff of NintendoEverything do it instead.

After the break, you’ll hear from Brian (site admin and boss man), Austin (podcast man and writer guy), Jack (podcast man and writer guy), Spencer (writer guy), Patrick (writer guy) and Scott (video guy) about what they all found to be their absolute favorite games of 2013. Consider this list primarily subjective.
