Super Mario Maker 2 update 3.0.3

Super Mario Maker 2 is back with another update via version 3.0.3. Unsurprisingly, it’s a pretty small release.

Smash Bros Ultimate Pokemon Scarlet Violet spirits

A new Spirit Board event based on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be held in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this week, Nintendo just announced.

While it’s active, creatures from the game and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will be appearing. Defeat them to earn additional snacks. You can see the spirits that will be appearing in the graphic above.

Minecraft update 1.20.61

Minecraft is back with a new version 1.20.61 update. Note that this version is specifically for Switch as other platforms show version 1.20.60, but both are the same.

Today’s patch includes experimental features from the upcoming 1.21 update, including Trial Chambers and the Breeze plus experimental Armadillo and Wolf Armor. Many bug fixes and parity changes are also available.

Super Mario RPG sales

Nintendo should be pleased with how Super Mario RPG is performing on Switch as the remake has already outsold the original.

As part of today’s financial results, we learned that the game has sold 3.14 million units. Believe it or not, that’s actually above what the SNES version did in its lifetime, and by quite a fair bit. The original release only sold 2.14 million. Also worth noting, the feat was done in just six weeks.

Switch has surpassed all other systems to become Japan’s best-selling gaming device ever.

Based on Nintendo’s latest financial results, Switch has sold 33.34 million units in Japan. That means it’s overtaken the Game Boy Color. The classic handheld system previously sold 32,990,000 units.

As for overall Switch sales, Nintendo reported today that the system has sold 139 million units worldwide. It’s not terribly far off from the overall goal of 155 million, which would put it past the DS and PlayStation 2.
