NBA 2K18 was technically announced for Switch a few months ago. Today though, 2K Sports announced that the game will launch on September 19 right alongside all other versions of the game.

2K Sports is also giving Switch the same treatment as other consoles when it comes to special editions. You’ll be able to pick up a standard copy, Legend Edition, or Legend Edition Gold.

Update: This actually is a returning brand from the first Splatoon. It’s known as Tentatek in the English version.

Original: The Splatoon Twitter account provided another brief update on Splatoon 2 today – this time, it’s another new clothing brand. “Arome” (the official English name will likely be different) are known for producing high-tech sneakers, such as the model you see below. Many top athletes wear this brand which combines fashion with functionality.

Square Enix updated the Dragon Quest XI website with the latest details and screenshots for its upcoming RPG. Two of the game’s systems are covered: “Zone” and “Link”. We’ve rounded up the latest news below, courtesy of Gematsu.

Zone

– One of the new powers that appears in battle
– State of heightened concentration that temporarily increases your combat ability
– If attacked by an enemy, the protagonist and other party members can enter Zone allowing them to turn a sticky situation into a prime opportunity
– Entering Zone surrounds your body in a blue light and increases your ability
– The effect can carry over to the next battle until it disappears
– Even if you take heavy damage and find yourself in a pinch entering Zone could be your chance for a counterattack
– Zone is even more promising when several party members enter it
– Monsters can also enter zone

Link

– If you enter Zone, you can acquire even further power
– By combining your power with those of your party members, you can unleash powerful Link techniques
– These can become the key to defeating formidable enemies
– Silvia can light up the protagonist’s sword with fire
– Link techniques differ depending on the combination of party members, learned spells and skills, and the number of people that are in Zone
– How you organize your party will directly affect which Link techniques you can unleash
– Monsters can also unleash Link techniques
– Camus and the Protagonist: “Falcon Dance”
– Full Party: “Giga Burst”
– Silvia and Protagonist and Row: “Rose Hurricane”

The original Splatoon introduced map rotations for online play. At four hour intervals, two stages would be available at a given time.

Splatoon 2 retains this for the most part, but with a significant change. Maps will now refresh every two hours instead of every four hours.

As for why the map rotation is being limited once again, Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami explained to EDGE this month:

“We feel that part of the gameplay is actually selecting which weapons would be best for that combination of two maps. In Splatoon 2, the maps rotate every two hours, so it’ll be a much faster cycle than the previous game.”

Nintendo is encouraging players to use motion controls playing arms. You won’t be restricted in using other options, however. For months we’ve known that it will be full possible to play with traditional button controls. This month’s issue of EDGE explains how it’s done, at least with a single Joy-Con.

The magazine writes this month:

“Punches can be thrown using the triggers, or two of the face buttons – jump and dash are mapped on to the other two. You click the left stick to guard. Everything you need is here, and it works – but something’s missing. Since the left stick controls the angle of your punches, you can’t move in one direction and punch in the other. You can’t strike at a different angle with your other hand until the first punch is fully extended, either.”

EDGE does say that “ARMS isn’t quite the same” without motion controls. Still, the option is there if you’re not keen on moving around.

Note that EDGE’s information appears to be based on using a single Joy-Con. It’s unclear how the controls change with two Joy-Con or a Switch Pro Controller.
