Update: Now “2017” – Nintendo press site says Zelda Wii U is due out in March 2017
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 74 Comments
Update (4/29): Bumped to the top. Nintendo has updated the press site, which now simply shows “2017” instead of “March 2017”.
Original (4/27): Nintendo made several announcements earlier today, including the news about the new Zelda game being delayed to 2017. However, the company didn’t say when the title will be launching specifically.
If Nintendo’s press site is anything to go by, we’ll be seeing the new Zelda next March. Since the NX version is launching simultaneously, that version would arrive at the same time. It’d definitely make sense to have Zelda out for NX’s launch – I feel like that’s the big point behind this latest delay.

Igarashi shows off three enemies in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Koji Igarashi posted a new update on the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter page today. We have a look at a trio of minor enemy designs: Seama, Dullahammer, and Morte.
Here’s an overview of each one:
Seama
The demon parasite of the sea! Water monsters are always essential, but we wanted to do something unusual this time around—that’s why our sea monster influence was the humble jellyfish.
It worked out well. But it’s so jiggly… it looks kind of delicious.
Dullahammer
A headless knight that attacks by swinging its own head like a flail. I love the idea of really large minor enemies—the sheer size makes you feel like you’ve met a challenging opponent.
The uni, or sea-urchin-like substance inside Dullahammer’s armor is an accent. He looks kind of delicious, too…
Morte
A lesser demon that lacks a corporeal form, this mud-like creature can’t hold its shape. If it could talk, it would probably yell something like, “Give me a physical form!” By the way, it doesn’t drop any skills. It’s a lesser demon, after all…
Head on over to the Kickstarter update here for a work-in-progress animation of a Morte attempting to engulf Miriam.

Limited Run Games exploring North American Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water retail release
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 45 Comments
Limited Run Game has been receiving a bunch of attention as of late. The company has been giving digital titles a retail release that never made it out physically in small runs. However, their efforts have mainly been limited to PlayStation platforms thus far.
Some interesting news did surface on Limited Run Games’ Twitter account recently that could very well appeal to some Nintendo fans. In an interaction with a gamer on Twitter, it was mentioned that they are “trying to work towards a Fatal Frame 5 release” – Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, in other words.
The tweet is as follows:
@Grimsie42 We're trying to work towards a Fatal Frame 5 release. 🙂
— Limited Run Games (@LimitedRunGames) April 28, 2016
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water did get a physical version in Europe, but North American players weren’t offered the same opportunity. If Limited Run Games does somehow manage to work with Nintendo on this, that’d be a huge win for the company as well as for fans of the series.
EB Games display showing “Summer 2016” release window for Mighty No. 9
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 13 Comments
Mighty No. 9 has suffered through several delays. The last time we heard about the game in an official capacity was in January, when it was pushed back to “Spring 2016”. Could it now be seeing another delay?
A display at EB Games is currently showing Mighty No. 9 as launching in “Summer 2016”. That’s most definitely not a confirmed time frame, but it is a bit concerning. There were actually rumors earlier this week about Mighty No. 9 possibly being moved back to December, although it was later proven inaccurate.
What’s maddening about this all is how little we’ve heard from the Mighty No. 9 team about the situation. If the title is still on track for spring, you have to wonder why things have been so quiet. The end of the season is less than two months away after all!

Star Fox Zero / Star Fox Guard sold through 30% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 68 Comments
Star Fox Zero came out in Japan last week. During its first few days on the market (April 21 – April 24), the game sold 17,114 units with the Star Fox Guard pack. Another 8,135 copies were sold from the standalone release.
Media Create now reports a sell-through rate for the two items. According to its data, they sold through just 30 percent of the initial shipment. Between the debut low sales and sell-through rate, it would be fair to say that Star Fox Zero is off to a slow start in Japan.
