In a recent podcast, Unseen64’s Liam Robertson (known for digging up information on canned games) revealed that ZombiU 2 was in development for a short period back in early 2013. A team of roughly 5-10 staffers worked on the project, which never left pre-production. Robertson said that it likely didn’t take long “before Ubisoft put their foot down” and cancelled plans for the game.

Robertson has seen one image from ZombiU 2 that offered a similar aesthetic as its predecessor. That means players would have been exploring a “run-down, zombie apocalypse setting” once again – hardly surprising!

After an incredibly long wait, Rodea: The Sky Soldier is finally launching in Japan next week. Given that the game is so close, Famitsu published a review in its latest issue.

We’ve gone ahead and translated the review in full. You can find it after the break.

Xavier Orion Games has announced a retro-inspired project for Wii U titled “Super Booty Diver”. The game will be out on the eShop (and a couple of other platforms) this summer for $4.99.

Super Booty Diver is all about adventuring underwater while monitoring your air levels and acquiring currency known as “booty”. There will be shooting mechanics with limited ammo, 50 levels, and puzzle-like Boss Battles. Off-TV play will be supported, and Super Booty Diver sports a chiptune soundtrack.

Zelda Wii U

Yesterday, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma shared news that the series’ new entry on Wii U has been delayed. IGN managed to get a comment out of Nintendo, and while it’s mostly rehash, it’s somewhat interesting.

Here’s the full statement:

As Mr. Aonuma announced, The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U is no longer targeted as a 2015 release. Rather than sticking to a specific schedule, the team wants to make this the most complete and the best game it can possibly be. The new launch timing has not yet been determined. Because we’d like to focus on developing the game, we aren’t planning on showing it at this year’s E3, where we will be highlighting games launching in 2015. We will let you know when we’re ready to share more specifics.

The last part of that statement is pretty noteworthy! Nintendo’s E3 2015 lineup is focusing on titles coming out this year, so we may not see much of what’s in store for 2016.

The hits just keep on coming! After finding out that Zelda Wii U has been delayed and is now expected in 2016 instead, we have confirmation that the title will be skipping E3.

Series producer Eiji Aonuma wrote on Miiverse:

As I said in the video, we would like to take this time so we can bring you a very special experience, by making the ultimate Zelda game. Since we’d like to focus on developing the game we’ve decided to not show the game at this year’s E3.

Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you’ll look forward to the game!

Darn you, Aonuma! You know how to break my heart, don’t you?!

A new video message from Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma reveals that the title is no longer expected in 2015, as was originally announced.

“As I have watched our development progress, I have come to think that rather than work with meeting a specific schedule as our main objective, and releasing a game that reflects only what we can create within that scheduled time, I feel strongly that our focus should be to bring all of these ideas to life in a way that will make Zelda on Wii U the best game it can possibly be,” Aonuma explained. “So I must apologize to all of you who were expecting the game by year’s end, but we are no longer making a 2015 release our number one priority. Instead, our priority is to make it the ultimate and most complete Zelda game.”
