According to a tweet from Canadian retailer Video Games Plus, Nintendo has ceased production of DS cartridges. The retailer does promise its own set of exclusive restocks for the near future, however.

Video Games Plus sent out the following message a little while ago:

Nintendo has not officially confirmed that it has stopped production of DS carts worldwide. But given the fact that Video Games Plus is a retailer, they could very well have this sort of information as its disposal.

According to a report from respected Japanese outlet Nikkei, Nintendo will cease production of the Wii U before the end of 2016. The paper adds that some Wii U accessories have already stopped production. Nintendo apparently intends to deplete inventory this year.

Nikkei also reiterates what we already know: Nintendo’s next system, the NX, is primed for an unveiling this year. It’s not said that NX will start being sold this year, though that possibility isn’t ruled out either.

At one point, there may have been plans to include some extra features in the Pokken Tournament Pro Pad. Austin Mageles has been picking the controller apart and came across a couple of interesting discoveries.

First, it seems that there are two areas where two force feedback motors would have been included, which is further hinted at with “LM” and “RM” prints on the circuit board. This would designate “Left Motor” and “Right Motor” – both would likely be used for rumble support. Also found within the transparent red plastic on the bottom of the controller are “dimples” for LED lights.

Update: We’ll keep the rumor tag until it’s 100% confirmed, but this is looking even more legitimate. Here’s another look at the same footage from one of the SXSW panel attendees:

Niantic may have just shown the first Pokemon GO footage during a panel at SXSW. Take a look at some off-screen gameplay below.

Some folks have been digging within the files of the Super Mario World SNES release on New 3DS to see what else might be on the horizon. And as luck would have it, a decent-sized list was found which may point to upcoming titles for the Virtual Console. Given the names, this looks to be primarily for Japan.

Some outlets have been reporting on Foxconn Technology’s Q1 earnings, such as Yahoo and MoneyDJ. It was already known that Foxconn is involved with NX, but a key takeaway from recent articles is that the system will be making the company’s operations “hot” in the second half of 2016. In other words, it sounds like Foxconn’s involvement with NX will really be picking up after June.

There is a language barrier since the original articles are in Chinese, unfortunately. Because of that, we’re marking this post as a rumor – even with what we’ve heard before pointing to a possible NX release this year.

Nintendo’s Kensuke Tanabe has long been associated with Retro Studios. While working with the company, Tanabe acted as producer (or co-producer) on all of its games – the Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country titles. Now, however, the two sides “are allegedly no longer on good terms,” according to a report from Liam Robertson.

Here’s one excerpt from Robertson’s report:

“Last year, I was investigating Tanabe with regards to this. This involved speaking to a number of developers who had worked alongside him. The way in which they all described Tanabe’s directorial style was fascinating. Their words built up a portrait in my mind of a Gordon Ramsey esque figure who strived for perfection and berated anything short of it. It’s difficult for me to fully convey my impressions of him without explicitly detailing the anecdotes shared with me in confidence, which could compromise those involved; but I will try my best to elaborate.

Over the past few weeks, it’s become apparent that finding a Wii U in Japan isn’t quite as easy as it was a year ago. Why is this so? Respected Japanese outlet Nikkei published some speculation today that Nintendo is “restricting supplies to avoid unsold inventory.”

Here’s an excerpt from a new article on the website:

“In Japan, since late January, signs saying ‘Wii U is out of stock’ have begun appearing at game shops across the country. That has sparked rumors the company might be about to cut prices, though Nintendo denies this. According to the rumors the company has also been restricting supplies to avoid unsold inventory.”

Of course, this is only a rumor at the moment. Whether or not Nikkei is correct is currently unknown.

Destructoid is reporting that Nintendo is funding Beyond Good & Evil 2. Better yet, the site claims that the game is planned as an NX exclusive for 2017. It would be a move similar to that of Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, which could help Nintendo generate goodwill with gamers by helping bring the much-desired sequel to its new platform as an exclusive.

Destructoid’s initial source originates from Alexander Maier, who recently posted a series of rumors about NX which I personally found rather dubious. However, the outlet “also reached out to a second source, who independently gave a number of the same bullet points regarding the future of Beyond Good and Evil. The number of points of crossover between these two sources suggests that this rumor, while not confirmed by Nintendo, may hold water.”

The new game may be currently carrying the working title “Beyond Good and Evil: The Prejudices of Philosophers”. This is said to be “a reference to a specific chapter in the philosophical text Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche, which details how morality can be altered by authority, and the ways black-and-white morality overlooks the larger complexity of the nature of morals.”

As with all rumors, we can’t stress enough that this report should be taken with a grain of salt. If it were to be accurate though, it’d be a very interesting move on Nintendo’s part.

Dutch website N1ntendo, an outlet with a fairly decent reputation, claims to have information about tomorrow’s European Nintendo Direct. There is some reason to be skeptical, and there is no guarantee that all of the items posted will be presented during tomorrow’s broadcast. That being said, now that we’re aware of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Generations trademark which was included in N1ntendo’s leak, there is a reason to share the rumored lineup (which may or may not be incomplete).
