Nintendo has been gradually making new announcements throughout E3 during their Treehouse Live streams. Today is the last day of the show, and it looks like there will probably at least one more announcement.

The folks over at GameXplain had the chance to interview the producer and the characters designer of ARMS yesterday, and they mentioned that they learned something new about the game, and that that info will likely be shared during an ARMS segment at Treehouse Live today.

Since the game will be released tomorrow, this news will probably be about the free content updates that ARMS will be getting post-launch. We will of course report on this if and when the announcement happens.

The next game in the Professor Layton game series, Layton’s Mystery Journey, is out this year – but what’s in store for the series after that? Speaking to Eurogamer, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has said the following about a possible Layton game on the Nintendo Switch:

I played Zelda. I love the Switch. I think it’s amazing hardware. The problem is, the Layton series does a lot with the touchscreen and pointing. So, the problem with the Switch is, if you play on handheld you can do it, but if you put it on the dock… we’re trying to figure out how that would play into it.

If we can get around that and figure out a way of doing it, definitely we’re looking into putting the next Layton onto the Switch.

At the very least, it’s good to see Level-5 being so frank about it, and it seems they are committed to figuring things out with regards to a Switch game.

This information comes from Xbox boss Phil Spencer…

“I don’t know yet. I’m guessing no. And this is a collaborative relationship between Nintendo and I; they don’t have Achievements on their platform. If they want us to, I would love to be able to do it… The relationship with Nintendo is incredibly strong. We obviously did the Mario mash-up pack into Minecraft; that doesn’t happen that often.”

This information comes from Xbox boss Phil Spencer…

“We use Xbox Live as the way to make sure we know who our players are, controls around parental controls and other things that we put into our platform are there. And as you’re buying things in Minecraft, you want to make sure you have them available on other platforms, so we have to know who you are. If you have a realm that you’ve created on the PC and you want to get to it on the Switch, we have to have an identity system and we just use Xbox Live.”

This information comes from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime…

On Virtual Console for Switch…

“We know that our fans, our players, want access to all of our digital content, we know that. What we’re working through is, ‘okay, what’s going to be the best way to make that happen, to make that available?’ Certainly, we recognize there’s an appetite for all of our great legacy content.”

On My Nintendo…

“From the Nintendo of America standpoint, we have it as a priority to make My Nintendo much more meaningful moving forward.”

Update: This can be fixed! You’ll need to do a hard reboot of the system, and then Cars 3 should be fine. It’s definitely not an isolated incident though, and we’ve seen a few reports about this happening. Hopefully Warner Bros. and Avalanche will put out a patch to prevent these issues.

Original: You may want to hold off on purchasing Cars 3: Driven to Win on Switch. We’re hearing that the game doesn’t go beyond the title screen, meaning it can’t be played at all.

Here’s a look:

Anyone out there have Cars 3 on Switch? If so, have you encountered these issues? It’d be interesting to see if the Wii U version works…
