The latest screenshot for the upcoming Splatoon game has an “Update from the Squid Research Laboratory”.
Report from the Squid Research Laboratory.
In Turf Battles, the amount of area covered by ink becomes your points. The number of times you knocked out enemies and the number of times you were knocked out is counted to, but these don’t contribute to your score. This means that the ones who spread the most ink are the best.

Captain Toad producer on the possibility of Toads appearing in more of their own games
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
Nintendo Life recently caught up with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker director Shinya Hiratake and producer Koichi Hayashida. Among the topics discussed include potential interest in having Captain Toad, Toadette and the other Toads appear in more of their own games down the road.
Regarding this, Hayashida commented:
Here in the development team we’ve really come to love Captain Toad and the Toad Brigade from Super Mario Galaxy! We’re really happy to have been able to make a game where they are the main stars. I hope we’ll be seeing them pop up in all sorts of other places in future.
Hiratake also shared an interesting comment when asked if there are any other franchises or Nintendo settings he feels would suit the diorama puzzle mechanics:
In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, it feels like we managed to recreate the fun of the games we used to play on the NES, but with a modern twist. I worked on this project in parallel to the NES REMIX series [titles available on the Wii U eShop and 3DS] where we pick up some of the best bits from games on NES. I was thinking it might be interesting to turn some of the games there into box worlds like this too. Those of you who enjoyed the Time Attack mode in Captain Toad: Treasure tracker might also like the Time Attack challenges in NES REMIX. I hope you try them out and enjoy!
And lastly, it sounds like we won’t be learning what Captain Toad has tucked away inside his backpack anytime soon. Hiratake said, “I think we’ll keep the contents of Captain Toad’s backpack the biggest secret of this game.”

Recently there has been quite a bit of rumors about the possibility of the discontinuation of the Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U.
Now we have some clarification from Nintendo of Europe about stock levels and what they are doing to address the issues.
In an article from Nintendolife, Nintendo of Europe commented:
We would like to reassure you that GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U has not been discontinued by Nintendo of Europe and we are doing everything we possibly can to meet the demand which is currently outstripping supply.
We are unable to comment specifically on individual retailer stock levels and as such we ask customers to contact their local retailers directly regarding their availability of this product. We would however like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that additional stock can be made available and delivered to retailers.

Bayonetta 2’s lesser known facts highlighted in new PlatinumGames blog post
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 1 Comment
Yet another blog update has landed on PlatinumGames’ official blog. This time around, we get to hear about some of the game’s lesser known facts.
Check out a few excerpts below:
So, we all know that the Chain Chomp is a weapon, but did you know you can also use him to sniff out treasure? Sometimes, Chomp might start barking and tugging on his chain as you’re proceeding through the map. This means there’s a treasure nearby and he’s trying to get it. If you feel like you might be missing some of the game’s treasure chests, try him out for a bit.
After you’ve started the Climax, try pressing the L button again. You’ll exit your Umbran Climax and preserve the rest of your magic gauge. You won’t be able to enter Umbran Climax until you build you gauge up to full again, but at least you won’t have to expend any gauge without actually using it.
Some of you may already know, but we here at PlatinumGames have a continued tradition of hiding beetles in our games. I haven’t heard of anyone finding it in Bayonetta 2, but it’s there! Get to looking.
Head on over to the PlatinumGames website for the full post.
