Out of nowhere, Nintendo has released a new update for Wii U. Version 5.5.4 is now live for all system owners worldwide.
Nintendo has yet to publish any notes about today’s firmware upgrade. That being said, it likely falls in line with previous versions. That means the following: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.
Prior to today, Wii U’s last update was in September 2018. The system hasn’t received any notable feature additions since 2014.
While Phoenix Labs is working to bring Dauntless to Switch, we now know that it’s not being done entirely in-house. According to the studio’s Chris Fox, Iron Galaxy is also involved.
Iron Galaxy previously ported The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Switch. That turned out pretty well in the end, so here’s hoping that Dauntless also turns out well.
This Thursday, the point-and-click adventure game Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love will be releasing on the Switch eShop. Have a look at some footage below.
GameXplain has shown more of the Zelda: Link’s Awakening E3 2019 demo – specifically Mr. Write, Dampé, and a little of Tal Tal Heights. That was done by acquiring Roc’s Feather and leaving the dungeon early and exploring the overworld. Check out the footage below.
Amazon UK has opened pre-orders for new amiibo launching in a few months from now. The new Zelda: Link’s Awakening figure, along with the Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Snake additions in the Smash Bros. line, are all live. Each one can be found here.
These new amiibo will be available starting September 20.

Rocket League’s latest update is now available. Version 1.65, which will show as version 1.2.1 on your Switch system, includes a bit of new content and fixes.

Armor Games Studios has announced that it is bringing Never Give Up to Switch. The tough platformer will launch via the eShop on August 13, the company revealed today.

Limited Run Games is going back to the earlier days of gaming with its latest release. In partnership with Lucasfilm, the company intends to offer Star Wars on the NES and Game Boy.
Pre-orders open on June 28 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe. Limited Run Games calls this a “limited cartridge edition”.
