It goes without saying, but Detective Pikachu is a very different kind of Pokemon game. Pikachu has a voice, and the character acts in a completely different way than fans are used to.
USgamer spoke with Hiroyuki Jinnai about the new game. One of the aspects discussed is how the team wanted to offer “something totally different” with this version of Pikachu.

Zen Pinball spoke about a performance patch for Pinball FX3 on Switch a few months ago. The plan was to get the game running at 60 frames per second during portable play, and to hopefully increase docked resolution to 1080p.
We haven’t heard about the update since then, and it sounds like Zen Studios has pulled the plug on those original plans. Community representative Gabor Hajdu passed along the following note to one fan:
This month’s launch of Detective Pikachu technically isn’t the first time that the game will be available. Initially, it had a release on the Japanese 3DS eShop back in 2016.
Now Nintendo is bringing out Detective Pikachu worldwide, including a physical version in all regions. Compared to the 2016 edition, significant content has been added in. Whereas the Japanese eShop version had three chapters, the final game contains nine. That means Detective Pikachu should be about three times longer than it originally was.
Circle Entertainment has largely been focusing on Switch as of late, but the company will be releasing a new 3DS game this month. The next entry in the Witch & Hero franchise, Witch & Hero III, will finally be available this month.
Circle intends to share a new trailer and screenshots for the game sometime during the week. Hopefully a final release date won’t be too far behind.
