Wii U and 3DS demos both impose play limits. For most of these downloads, you can only play them a certain amount of times before they become locked and are inaccessible. Most limits are at around thirty, but some are much lower.

Thankfully, with Switch, play limits are gone. Demos for the likes of Snipperclips, Dragon Quest Heroes I-II, and Puyo Puyo Tetris allow you to load them up as many times as you please. It’s certainly a change that will sit well with Switch owners.

A new “Shop Menu” was added to the Nintendo Accounts website today. While we’ve seen the purchase history and “Just For You offers” sections before, they have received a facelift. Also, you can now merge your eShop balance on Wii U and 3DS with Switch – even if you don’t have a system yet.

Visit the Shop Menu page here. You should then see different balances for your Nintendo Account (used for Switch) and Nintendo Network ID (used for Wii U / 3DS). Just click the “Merge Funds” text, and you should be able to combine them in a matter of seconds.

By the way, it is possible to change the region of your Nintendo Account. You’ll have to give up your current balance in order to do so, however.

Switch is region free in just about every way possible. Physical games can be played regardless of the region where you purchase them. And on the eShop, accessing different versions of the store is simple.

Let’s say you wanted to load up the Japanese eShop on a North American Switch. As long as you have a Japanese account, you can log in to the Japanese eShop on the system. Basically, you just need a relevant account in the eShop region you want to access.

Just one word of caution: games and DLC are paired together. That means both need to be from the same region in order to work properly.

Gamasutra published a new interview with Damon Baker, head of partner management at Nintendo of America. Baker hosted the company’s Switch Nindies Showcase presentation earlier this week. During the chat, Baker talked about how Nintendo is focusing on quality over quantity and targeting newer games as opposed to ports with smaller developers.

We’ve rounded up some excerpts from the interview below. You can read Gamasutra’s full piece here.
