LEGO Dimensions is set to be a bit different for its second year on shelves, with the new expansion packs focusing on their source material, rather than the overarching LEGO Dimensions story. Interviewed by Eurogamer, producer Mark Warburton discussed the shift, saying:

We wanted to try something different [with Story Packs] and tell the story of those movies. This year is going to be a great barometer of what the appetite is out there, to see if people like our story or want something else. We’ll see if the preference is that they want to play the whole Ghostbusters movie or Fantastic Beasts movie.

Warburton also discussed two exclusive figures. He emphasized that the Supergirl figure, which is currently only available when buying the PS4 Starter Pack, is a timed exclusive, meaning that she could find her way to different sets in the future. He also commented on high markup price on the Green Arrow figure, which is exclusive as a giveaway at demo events and thus can only be reliably obtained through sites like eBay, saying “We never saw that coming.”
He also reiterated previously known information about the game. Touching on Star Wars and Marvel, Warburton stated that they each had their own LEGO games and thus are on a different track than Dimensions. He also reminded that there are more packs coming throughout the year, like the recently revealed LEGO Batman sets and the unrevealed Powerpuff Girls, and also that the game is still on track for its current three-year plan.

With Monster Hunter Stories releasing soon in Japan, Capcom is working at marketing the 3DS title with commercials. You can watch the two commercials below to see the excitement:

Some North American Wii U owners were able to nab the digital version of Paper Mario: Color Splash a few days ago. Nintendo made it available for pre-load, but that was actually the game in its entirety. An update is always required to begin playing pre-loaded titles on launch day, so something did not go as planned here. Color Splash was soon pulled after reports spread on various websites.

Nintendo has since commented on the situation, as Kotaku obtained a statement from the big N. It basically confirms what we already knew: a mistake was made.

The full statement reads:

“For a brief period of time, Paper Mario: Color Splash was inadvertently made available to the public via Nintendo eShop on Wii U, and a small number of consumers were able to purchase and download the game. Access to the digital version of the game is no longer available. The digital version of the game will be available for download in Nintendo eShop on Wii U, and consumers can purchase the physical version at retailers nationwide, when Paper Mario: Color Splash launches on Oct. 7.??”

It’s time for the latest Famitsu‘s most wanted games chart! Pokemon Sun/Moon, Dragon Quest XI, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild are all up a spot.

Head past the break for the full chart. All votes were cast between September 8 and September 14.

As part of the latest Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter update, the team is sharing four tracks that will be included in the game. Each is composed by Michiru Yamane, who is well known for her work on the Castlevania series.

You can listen to the different tracks after the break. Each one also comes with a bit of commentary from Yamane. The team has a tentative plan in mind for when each one will be played, though things may shift around after all stage tracks are finalized.

Miitomo has been updated with new content once again. Players can nab some new items in the latest Miitomo Drop stage, “Art is life! Art Museum #2”.

Available items include:

– Modern art installation hat
– Cubism dress
– Modern art high-tops

Users can select Miitomo Drop stages from the Shop tab. Miitomo coins or game tickets are needed to play.

Lots of new content is heading to LEGO Dimensions very soon, including four-player Battle Arenas. IGN shows some gameplay of that in the video below.

Nintendo streamed the Dragon Quest VII developer discussion at PAX from a couple of weeks ago, but the online audience was only treated to some of what was shown. We know that a bit of Dragon Quest VIII footage debuted at the event, and fans were able to ask Square Enix’s Noriyoshi Fujimoto some questions.

One person wanted to find out if we’ll ever be getting Dragon Quest X in the west. According to a fan attending the event, Fujimoto responded by saying that translating an MMO is a daunting task, and it would be difficult to bring over the game from a business standpoint. However, he did say that if there’s enough fan outcry similar to that of what happened with Dragon Quest VII, Square Enix could look into it.

Square Enix has already made Dragon Quest X for Wii U, 3DS, and Wii. An NX version is also planned.
