Here’s a little bit of a tidbit about the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U. It will actually be possible to use two of these adapters. Given the ability to have eight players in Smash Bros. Wii U, I suppose that makes sense!
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS did not have an opening movie. The Wii U version, however, will in fact include one. This was confirmed during today’s Smash Bros. Wii U presentation – check out the screengrab above.
Today’s Smash Bros. presentation revealed a bunch of stages for the Wii U version. You can find the full set in the graphic above.
I used “secret” in the title just to be safe. If you’ve played the 3DS version of Smash, you’ll know who these characters are. We finally get to see them in the Wii U version!
There’s a huge number of songs included in the Wii U version, and you can adjust how often a song plays by going into My Music.
You can freely adjust the settings so all songs have an equal chance of playing or make it so only one song plays.
In My Music, you can adjust the song settings not only for the stages, but for the menu screen as well.
How to Get More Songs
The songs are not all available at the start of the game. Find CD items in the game to expand your collection. CDs can appear during matches or as rewards in Challenges.
Most of the songs from the Nintendo 3DS version are available in the Wii U version. There are also songs from past titles and new songs too. You can see the list of musicians and their songs via the following link:

In the Wii U version, you can take on themed challenges in Events mode. Some of these challenges’ themes are closely related to the original games of specific characters, while others simply have unique conditions for success.
As you clear events, more events will be unlocked. During your journey through Events mode, you may encounter rewards and hidden routes!
Co-op Events
There’s also a separate two-player Events mode that requires you and another player to team up to overcome challenges.
You can play with a number of different controllers in the Wii U version.
Wii U GamePad
If you are playing alone, you can play using only the Wii U GamePad screen.
Wii Remote Plus
You can play by holding it sideways. You can use a normal Wii Remote as well.
Wii Remote Plus + Nunchuk
Wii Remote Plus + Classic Controller Pro
The game supports the Classic Controller as well.
Wii U Pro Controller
Nintendo GameCube Controller
You can connect up to four GameCube Controllers using one GameCube Controller Adapter. Connect the adapter to the Wii U console using two USB cables. (You can use the USB ports on the front or the back of the Wii U.)
Nintendo 3DS series systems
You can use the Nintendo 3DS family of systems as controllers as long as you have a?Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS for each system.
