Three new Virtual Console games are on track for the Japanese Wii U eShop next week. Super Chinese (Famicom), Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA) and Mario vs. Donkey Kong (GBA) will be out on July 23. Pricing is set at 514 yen for the Famicom game and 702 yen for the GBA titles.

Fatal Frame presentation guests include Shigeru Miyamoto

On Thursday, a presentation will be held on Niconico for the new Fatal Frame Wii U game and related media efforts such as the upcoming movie. The event seems to be rather significant – as one would expect – given some of the guests attending.
Perhaps mostly importantly, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto will be showing up for this week’s presentation. Other guests include staff from Kadokawa and Koei Tecmo, Keisuke Kikuchi (Fatal Frame series), Shin Kibayashi (the author of the manga), Mari Asato (movie director), Nakajo Ayami (actress) and Aoi Morikawa (actress).

Half of Sonic’s lifetime sales have been in the US, 35% in Europe

Peter Warman, CEO of video game research firm Newzoo, shared an overview of Sonic’s lifetime sales in different territories with Fortune.
The Blue Blur is most popular in the United States, which is where about half of the total sales have originated from. Europe makes up another 35 percent, with the remaining 15 percent of sales stemming from other countries like Japan.

Dahku Creations bringing Soon Shine to the Wii U eShop

Dahku Creations has announced its second title for the Wii U eShop titled “Soon Shine”.
Below is an official overview of the game:
Soon Shine tasks players with fighting off hoards of spirits hungering for the energy of the sun and moon. The game is played entirely on the Wii U GamePad’s touch screen, and combines the single-screen score-racking fun of puzzle classics like Tetris with the quick reflexes and tenacity required of an action game.
At the moment, Soon Shine is under Nintendo review. Dahku Creations hopes to have it out in the Americas mid-August. Pricing will be set at $1.99.

Wii Sports Club updated to version 4.1

Nintendo has prepared a small software update for Wii Sports Club. Version 4.1 addresses the following points:
– Fixes an issue where the results of online Two-Player Team Play tennis matches were not displayed correctly in Play Records
– Introduces additional enhancements to improve the user’s experience and enjoyment
After applying the update, you should see “4.1” displayed in the settings menu.

Famicom celebrates its 31st birthday

It was 31 years ago that Nintendo released the Famicom in Japan. The system launched on July 15, 1983. Of course, in other parts of the world, the Famicom is known as the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).
