Youkai Watch 2 launched in Japan on July 10th and managed to sell 1.3 million copies during the first few days of availability. Incredibly, Media Create reveals that the “Honke” version sold through 95.53 percent of its initial shipment while the “Ganso” version experienced an 88.77 percent sell-through rate.
Essentially, people really want to play Youkai Watch 2. And even though Level-5 pushed out well over a million copies for the game’s launch, that wasn’t nearly enough to satiate demand.
Ubisoft has officially announced its new Tetris game – Tetris Ultimate – for 3DS. It’s scheduled to arrive this fall.
Tetris Ultimate features seven modes, including the exclusive single-player Challenge mode that will put any player’s determination to the test.
Here’s an overview of the different modes:
• Marathon – Complete level 15 and rack up as many points as you can.
• Endless – Keep clearing lines until your stamina runs out.
• Ultra – Race to score as many points possible before time runs out in this three-minute challenge.
• Sprint – Clear 40 lines as quickly as you can.
• Battle – Go head-to-head to knock out 1-4 challengers.
• Battle Ultimate – Be the last person playing after using crazy power-ups. Go on the offensive with Carousel and make your opponent’s Well shift to the left after each move, or trigger Let it Rain and dump garbage down on top of them. Aside from these modes, Tetris Ultimate will also include real-time worldwide leaderboards.

Areal, West Games’ spiritual successor to S.T.A.L.K.E.R., has reached its goal on Kickstarter. The campaign flied passed the $50,000 target over the weekend – raising an extra $12,000 in the process – despite the addition of only two new backers.
The oddities don’t end there, strangely enough. On Saturday, West Games shared a typed and signed letter it had received from someone claiming to be Russian president Vladimir Putin.
“We thought at first that there’s no way that this is legit, because we are a Ukrainian studio for the most part, and it’s probably the usual trolls trying to deceive us, but then when we looked at it closely, we started thinking that it might be real.”
Activision has announced a “Dark Edition” for Skylanders Trap Team, which Activision calls “a true collector’s starter pack”.

The Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition is a true collector’s starter pack that includes the special Ultimate Kaos Trap, which allows Portal Masters to trap and play as Kaos when the game launches in North America on October 5. Last month, Lunar Ray Games opened a Kickstarter for “Timespinner”. The indie developer hoped to raise enough funds to bring its Metroidvania game to life.
With just a few days remaining in the campaign, Timespinner ended up reaching its goal. Just over $122,000 has been raised thus far, and the Kickstarter has surpassed a $115,000 3DS stretch goal in the process.

XType Plus is releasing on July 31, developer PhobosLab has confirmed. That launch date applies to both North America and Europe.
XType Plus, a shooter, features the Classic Mode and Plus Mode modes as well as online leaderboards.
