The New 3DS and DSi are very comparable products in their nature. Neither system is a true leap to the next generation of Nintendo handheld hardware, but both act as notable upgrades over their predecessors. Given how similar the New 3DS and DSi are – at least in their purpose – it’s interesting to see just how similarly the two systems have sold in Japan thus far.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL have sold over 500,000 units in five weeks, according to sales tracker Media Create. As it turns out, this was the same case for DSi. That system released on November 1, 2008 and sold over 500,000 units in five weeks.

3DS themes are all the rage these days, and Bandai Namco is preparing one for Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble +. It will be available to those who pre-order the updated 3DS game. You can find a photo of the theme above.

Following the re-announcement of Rodea: The Sky Soldier earlier this week, Kadokawa Games has refreshed the website for Rodea: The Sky Soldier. Access the page Access the new site here. There’s not much to see currently, but expect the site to be updated with plenty of content going forward.

A few weeks ago the latest batch of New 3DS cover plates coming to Japan were revealed which featured K.K. Slider and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire among other things. It appears that all these cover plates released on November 21st in Japan will come with a Kisekae Mario 3DS theme (pictured above).

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire may be due out in only a few short days, but that hasn’t stopped Pokemon X and Y from receiving a couple more events in Japan. The first event, “Japanese Charizard Event” is exactly what you would expect, allowing players to download either a shiny Charizard holding Charizardite Y or a shiny Pikachu. The event will run from December 12th through January 16th at the Pokemon Center in Tokyo to commemorate the opening of the new venue.

The second “Linoone Event” will take place at Jump Festa 2015 on December 20th and will feature several gifts, the first of which is a special Linoone. The Linoone in question is Level 50 with the moves Extreme Speed, Helping Hand, Baby-Doll Eyes and Protect and holds a Focus Sash. Participating in a special battle competition will win players a PP up or a PP max. Also featured at the event are special QR codes for Super-Secret bases for special guests Ayana Tsubaki, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Aoi Yuki, Emi Nitta, Aoi Shota & Ban Megumi
