Live A Live pre-order

A major RPG is making its way to Switch this summer in the form of Live A Live, and ahead of its upcoming release, we’re creating a pre-order guide. This post will also compile any and all retailer bonuses if and when they are announced.

Live A Live technically isn’t a new game as it originally came out for the Super Famicom in 1994. Despite receiving acclaim in Japan, Square never released it anywhere else – until now. For the Switch edition, the game will have its first localization ever in English, and it’s being given a new HD-2D art style to boot. For those that are entirely new and haven’t heard about it previously, Live A Live offers seven unique stories with their own protagonists, time periods, and gameplay styles.

live a live distant future

We have two more trailers for the Live A Live remake on Switch that highlight a couple of time periods players will experience in the RPG. For today’s update, Square Enix prepared videos for Present Day and The Distant Future.

These are just two of the time periods in Live A Live. Players will also be able to experience stories in the likes of The Wild West, Twilight of Edo Japan, and more.

In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, original Live A Live director Takashi Tokita spoke about how the team made the upcoming Switch release a reality.

In addition to explaining how the remake ended up in HD-2D, Tokita spoke about the game’s short development cycle, which began at the beginning of 2019 and continued through the pandemic.

Live A Live HD-2D

Following the announcement of Live A Live’s HD-2D remake, Japanese magazine Famitsu sat down with original director Takashi Tokita, to talk about the game’s development.

The new Switch version served as the perfect opportunity to re-release the game, something the team tried to do many times over the years. Tokita dove into a number of other topics as well including why the team settled on the HD-2D art style.

Minecraft Kirby

This week on Nintendo Everything Podcast, Minecraft Kirby blesses us with his presence. Galen goes for treats in Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Halloween update, while Oni Dino joins the briny depths of The Sinking City. The news is quite hearty this week with Super Mario Bros 35, Mario Kart Home Circuit details, Live A Live revival teases, Pokemon DLC, and the big one: Minecraft Steve in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. We’re fans of his moveset despite not feeling one way or the other about his character. Regardless, Minecraft Kirby is here.
