Update: Welp, the dream is dead. The Wall Street journalist reporter Takashi Mochizuki has now clarified that Koizumi merely acknowledged that the Joy-Cons look like a puppy, not that it was intentional. A direct quote probably would have helped in this situation!

Original: After Nintendo revealed Switch last year, some fans noticed that the the system takes on the appearance of a puppy. It’s particularly evident when the Joy-Cons are connected to the Charging Grip.

Amazingly, this was actually intentional. The Wall Street Journal mentioned to Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi that the Joy-Cons look like a dog, who responded by saying that he knew. Koizumi added that’s what his team was thinking when making Switch.

In a new interview conducted by TIME, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime weighed in a variety of topics pertaining to Switch. He talked about who the system is for, third-party support, online plans, and more. Interestingly, Reggie even acknowledged interest in a GameCube Virtual Console.

Find notable excerpts from the interview below. You can read up on the full discussion here.

When Nintendo unveiled Arms during the Switch presentation, using motion controls was something that was highlighted quite a bit. That being said, they aren’t mandatory. Nintendo said during its Treehouse Live stream that you can use buttons if you prefer. This is important to point out, since some players would prefer to play Arms traditionally.

Some new comments from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime have popped up from CNET.

First, Reggie commented on the number of Switch’s launch games and ensuring that more titles will be available in the months following release. On that, he said:

“Launch day is not the be-all and the end-all. It really is the steady pacing of content that continually reinforces for the people who bought into the platform why they made a smart choice, as well as what compels people who might be sitting on the sidelines to jump in. We feel we have this great ongoing march of content to motivate you to jump into the platform.”

Reggie also weighed in on the decision to offer a paid online subscription with Switch. He also confirmed that there will be no friend codes.

“People have taken shots at us for that. The reality is, the way that online experiences have progressed, it’s an expensive proposition. The amount of servers we need to support Smash Brothers or Mario Kart — these big multiplayer games — is not a small investment. There are no friend codes within what we’re doing.”

During yesterday’s Treehouse Live stream, Nintendo said that Switch will support microSDXC cards that hold up to 256 GB of data. That actually was incorrect. Nintendo now notes in an official statement that “Switch is compatible with the SDXC standard, which supports up to 2TB.”

2TB cards are not actually out on the market. However, Switch will support them when they are.

It’s worth noting that even 1TB SDXC cards are still awhile for most consumers, as they were just announced last September. 512GB is currently the largest available SDXC card.

The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 finally happened this week. Nintendo delivered on a number of the major points that we needed to know, with the most important two being a release date and price. Switch launches on March 3 for $300 – probably a bit earlier and slightly more expensive than some had anticipated.

Games also took center stage, with Nintendo announcing 1-2-Switch, the new IP Arms, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Snipperclips. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also confirmed for launch. From third-parties, we’re getting games like new Shin Megami Tensei and Tales entries, Project Octopath Traveler from Square Enix, Sonic Mania, FAST RMX, and more.

I’ll leave this brief since I’m still running around like a headless chicken having been insanely busy with little sleep since Thursday, but we want to know how you feel about everything that was shown. How do you feel about the price? What about the games? Are you pleased or disappointed? Let us know below!
