BoxBoy! One More Box debuted on the Japanese 3DS eShop just a couple of hours ago. View 14 minutes of footage from the download below.

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory have revealed a sequel to the 3DS eShop hit BoxBoy!, which is actually out in Japan right now. The game is BoxBoy: Mou Hito Hako (roughly BoxBoy! One More Box).

Here’s the official trailer:

In the second game of the BoxBoy! series, players once again control Qbby, who can unleash boxes just like in the first entry. You’ll need to head to the goal while passing through obstacles. Qbby is powered up in this title, as he can now dish out two boxes at a time. Nintendo says that the stages are also undauntedly powered up, and await Qbby with new gimmicks.

Medals collected in the different levels provide costumes, musics, and comics. Those with save data from the first BoxBoy! can also use costumes from that game.

BoxBoy: Mou Hito Hako is available now via the Japanese eShop for 680 yen. 712 blocks of free space on an SD card are required for the download.

Sankei West recently spoke with Tatsumi Kimishima. During their talk, Nintendo’s new president talked a bit about Splatoon, sales, mobile, My Nintendo, and NX.

The first topic discussed during the interview was Splatoon. After Sankei mentions that it’s selling well, Kimishima said that painting colors as a way of battle and the characters allow it to be accepted by a family audience. He added that, in the future, it’s possible to extend it widely like Super Mario Bros.

Etrian Odyssey V was announced way back in November 2014. Aside from a teaser trailer, Atlus shared relatively little about the project.

Atlus’ Shigeo Komori finally provided an update (although brief) about Etrian Odyssey V in this week’s Famitsu. He said that development is in the final stages, and information will come “a bit later after the cold weather has warmed”. In other words, expect to hear news around spring or so.

We actually don’t even have a platform for Etrian Odyssey V. But given the series’ history, it’ll likely be on a Nintendo platform.

Medabots Girls Mission is in development for 3DS, this week’s issue of Famitsu reveals. A few details have already leaked from the magazine.

Medabots Girls Mission will be sold in “Kabuto” and “Kuwagata” versions much like other entries in the series. Famitsu says that over 20 female characters will be included, and players will be tasked with winning the Artemis Cup. In Robattles, there will be two teams consisting of two medabots each in which they’re controlled with buttons. You’ll be able to improve your bond with Medabots in order to become stronger.

Medabots Girls Mission launches in Japan on March 10. Pricing is set at 6,264 yen.

Let’s Talk #35: What are you playing? – January 2016

A new month is here! And a new year as well. So that means we want to know what you’ve been playing. Have you started up something entirely new for the month? Or maybe you’re continuing something you started a little while back? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments below!

Highlights from last week’s topic: Impressions of Xenoblade Chronicles X

It’s time to announce the winner of our December 2015 Patreon giveaway! Each person pledging $5 or more was automatically eligible for the prize, which was Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. I can now announce that the winner is Brian Brackney. Congratulations!

As for January, we’ll be giving away a Shovel Knight amiibo. Each person pledging $5 or more – regardless of region – will be entered automatically.

To close out, I wanted to bring up something else quickly. I’m curious if there’s anyone who would be interested in having ads removed as a Patreon reward. This wouldn’t be something like $1, but it wouldn’t be something crazy such as $20 either. Now that we have a user account system, this might be doable. We’d make it so that so long as you’re logged in, you wouldn’t see any ads on the site – the code for ads wouldn’t even load in your browser. If there’s enough interest, we might pursue something like this. Otherwise we’ll leave the Patreon rewards as they are!

That’s all for now. See you next month!

A few members of the Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam development team were interviewed in this month’s issue of Nintendo Dream. The lineup includes producer Akira Otani (Nintendo), director Shunsuke Kobayashi (AlphaDream), and director of battle team Jun Iwasaki (AlphaDream).

We’ve translated some excerpts from the interview after the break. The staff commented on how it was decided that Paper Mario would appear, the new dash mechanic (and Shigeru Miyamoto signing off on it!), and more. Read on below for the full breakdown.

Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream is celebrating the start of 2016 in its latest issue. Various game developers and other key members related to the industry contributed handmade drawings, including representatives from Nintendo, Capcom, Square Enix, and more.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing the various images featured in Nintendo Dream. The first set of drawings, rounded up in the gallery below, features The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, and some others. We also have text accompanying the shots after the break.
