The Walking Dead: The Final Season

The Walking Dead: The Final Season is in a state of flux at the moment. The first episode arrived as planned on August 14, with the next episode scheduled for tomorrow. But due to the closure of Telltale Games, the rest of the season has been up in the air.

Telltale doesn’t want to make any promises, but the studio just said on Twitter that the company is “actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form.” This was after various “potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion.”

Monolith Soft isn’t just known for the Xenoblade franchise. The studio has worked on many games over the years, including the GameCube-exclusive series Baten Kaitos. Two titles released on the platform, but it sounds like there were plans for a third entry as well.

Director Yasuyuki Honne has revealed that Baten Kaitos III was planned and was in pre-production. However, certain “circumstances” prevented the project from moving forward. Honne stated that Baten Kaitos III “would have been grand-scale game with settings at the bottom of the sea, on land, and in the sky.”

At the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, Bandai Namco announced the first Sword Art Online games for Switch. Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Deluxe Edition and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Complete Edition are both planned for the console.

It didn’t take long for Bandai Namco to confirm that both games will be released on Switch in the west. There is no word yet on a release date for either title, however.

For now, here’s a video promoting the news:

We recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Jonas Kaerlev from Gears for Breakfast, the studio behind A Hat in Time. We had a terrific discussion about where it all started, the Switch port, the studio’s next game, and more. You can listen to the full 30-minute interview below or feel free to read the shortened transcribed version.

Earlier today, Square Enix hosted a stage show The World Ends with You: Final Remix at The Tokyo Game Show. Aside from discussion about the new Switch version, original producer and character designer Tetsuya Nomura passed along a message about the IP’s future.

First up, some tidbits on the additional “A New Day” scenario:

During the Tokyo Game Show today, Square Enix finally provided an update on Dragon Quest XI for Switch. This version will be titled “Dragon Quest XI S”. The “S” designates “Switch”, “Special”, “Shaberu” (note: speaking in Japanese), and “Seiyuu” (note: voice actor in Japanese).

Unfortunately, there’s still no release window for Dragon Quest XI on Switch. It was stated during the event that more time is needed before the game can be released.

Nintendo games are quite often known for their wide appeal. The Mario series sells well because not only are they generally good games, but anyone can grab a controller and enjoy themselves. On the other hand, the Xenoblade franchise has always been a bulky RPG; something that those faint of heart and hundreds of hours of free time, may shy away from. Let’s find out why the new expansion for the second Xenoblade game might just make for the best place ever to start or continue your Xeno-journey!
