Just when you might have thought that Inti Creates was done with Mighty Gunvolt Burst, the company reveals a new update for the game. Version 1.4 is launching tomorrow along with new DLC character Tenzou. For folks in Japan, this should be available now.

Tenzou is the original protagonist from the first Gal*Gun entry. He comes with Blaster Goggles that fire powerful beams of light known as the Pheromone Shot. Angels Patako and Ekoro also help Tenzou traverse the virtual world with their Doki Doki Mode and Angelic Guidance abilities.

We have a trailer showing off Tenzou in Mighty Gunvolt Burst below.

During the system’s first year, Bethesda has been one of the biggest third-parties supporting Switch – especially in the west. The company was featured heavily as part of the system’s reveal with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. That game came out on Switch last year, along with the unexpected Doom. Wolfenstein II will also hit the platform in 2018.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines spoke at length about supporting Switch in a recent interview with Gamereactor. When asked about the challenges of bringing games to the console, Hines said in response:

We’re not exactly sure what sort of game Smash Bros. will be on Switch. After all, Nintendo didn’t have too much to say after it was announced during the Nintendo Direct in March. Of course, the real blowout will be at E3 in June.

There is at least one thing we know about the new Smash Bros. title – there will be new characters. Inklings are joining the fray, first of all. Link was also depicted with his look from Breath of the Wild. What could that mean?

And so it’s time for a Let’s Talk discussion many of you probably could have seen coming. With a new Smash Bros. game on the horizon, we want do know: which character do you want to see in the game? It could be someone realistic, or even a character unlikely to be added to the roster. Let us know in the comments below.

Paladins

The free-to-play FPS Paladins was first hinted at for Switch last November. Following an update for the game, new engine config files pointed to a possible release on the platform.

More concrete evidence has now emerged regarding a potential Switch version. After the latest test server was datamined, an “Oasis” codename was discovered, which other languages actually refer to as a Nintendo account.

Mario Tennis Aces

A trio of Mario Tennis characters have accidentally leaked. Japanese retailer Geo Online is taking pre-orders for the game, and is offering fans a special bonus. Buyers will be receiving a special handbag, and it’s that bag which outs the new characters.

Mario Motors

SimTower, Seaman, and Odama creator Yoot Saito delivered a talk at Reboot Develop 2018 yesterday. During the session, he revealed something entirely new that we hadn’t heard about previously.

Many years ago, Saito was involved with a Nintendo DS game codenamed Mario Motors. He was actually quite close with late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata as well as Shigeru Miyamoto, and during the early 2000s, the three would “chat over tea casually” and game ideas.

Wolfenstein II Switch

With some Switch games in the past, we’ve seen that an extra download is required for their physical versions. L.A. Noire was one example of this. That title needed an additional download, as the full experience wouldn’t fit on an SD card.

Wolfenstein II is another upcoming game that will have the same requirement. Amazon’s product page has an updated boxart image, complete with the warning header we’ve come to know and love. It clearly states that an internet download is required.

Here’s a look at the updated boxart:

PlatinumGames’ Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya raised hopes for a Switch port of The Wonderful 101 at Reboot Develop today. The two also commented on Bayonetta 3, though in general terms.

Inaba first weighed in on how he views Bayonetta 3 as a turning point for PlatinumGames, and needing to top previous entries in the series. Via translator Ben Judd, Inaba stated:

Night Trap - Nintendo Switch

Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition is coming to Switch, Limited Run Games has announced. A release is tentatively planned for this summer.

There was some talk about Night Trap heading to Switch last year. Screaming Villains apparently was willing to let it happen, but said Nintendo “pulled out two days later for a very random reason.” That reason was never clarified

May is going to be a busy month for Switch, and that’s expanding with one additional game. Team17 and Villa Gorilla have announced that the pinball platform adventure Yoku’s Island Express is launching on May 29. Pricing is set at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.

Today’s news is accompanied by a new developer diary which explores the game’s creation and the unique mechanics. We have that below, along with a general overview.
