Nintendo of Japan just announced that an update will be coming to Brain Age for Wii U, adding save states and a Virtual Console menu. It’s possible that this might also tie into the Miiverse closure announcement but at present this is unclear.

Though the game was just released,  Brain Age’s Miiverse page states that the game will only be available until June 30th. It’s unclear as to why this decision was made but we’ll update the story if anything else surfaces.

Looking at a new item today, Sakurai explains the new Boomerang item as recently seen in Mario Kart 8:

Here’s a new item that we’ve thrown in–the boomerang. As you’d guess, it’ll fly back into your hands after you throw it, and if you keep catching it, its attack power grows with each throw! However, opponents can nab the boomerang out of the air, so it might be an easier item to use in Smash Run.

It’s coming today in North America but for those of you who can’t wait, here’s some fresh footage of 1001 Spikes. Will you be picking it up?

Those wondering whether Mario Kart 8 was a system seller or not need wonder no longer, as Wii U Hardware sales have spiked 666% this week in the UK and 82% of that appears to be the Mario Kart 8 bundle landing it second behind Watch Dogs on the charts. Mario Kart 8 has had the series’ second biggest launch in the UK. Good news!
