Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 8 Comments
99Vidas is in development for Switch, QUByte Interactive announced today. A release is planned between Q3 and Q4 2017.
99Vidas initially launched last year. The beat’em up takes place in a contemporary world and takes inspiration from classic games such as Double Dragon and Golden Age. Featuring 16-bit retro graphics, it has “Punch” and “Kick” attack buttons that can be used for combos.
Here’s a comprehensive overview:
99Vidas captures the excitement of beat ’em ups like Final Fight, Double Dragon, Battletoads, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage featuring 16-bit retro graphics to bring back the nostalgia of those great classics from the 80’s and 90’s.
Unlike more traditional Beat’Em Ups, 99Vidas features two attack buttons – Punch (fast but weak) and Kick (slow but strong), which players can alternate to perform different combos.
Character moves, including combos, can be upgraded by spending Experience Points acquired during gameplay, expanding damage inflicted, adding elemental damage, modifying the each character, both visually and gameplay-wise.
Key Features
Up to 4 players co-op
11 Playable characters
Story Mode with 6 levels
2 Bonus Levels
Versus Mode
Survival Mode
6 Challenging Boss Fights
Multiple Upgradable skills
Multiple Weapons and Special Attacks

Nintendo has returned with another Twitter update for Super Mario Odyssey. The latest update covers the Uproots, one of the many objects in the game that can be captured.
The Captured Uproots can be used to extend high into the air. Not only can you reach certain areas that you wouldn’t be able to normally, but you can also hit blocks very quickly.

Newly-discovered Zelda: Ocarina of Time glitch lets you use any item as child or adult Link
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
A brand new Zelda: Ocarina of Time glitch is starting to circulate within the speedrunning community. With it, any item can be used as child or adult Link.
Exodus122, who found the glitch, suggests that the development could have a big effect on speedrunning. As one example, since you can now equip the hammer as a child, you can complete the fire temple as child Link. While it was possible before, the glitch greatly streamlines the process and removes complicated steps.
Here’s a look at the glitch in action:
Sonic Mania technical analysis, including a look at the Switch version
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Switch, Videos | 22 Comments
Digital Foundry has returned with a new technical analysis. This time, it’s Sonic Mania that receives the focus.
The first part of the video shows how Sonic Mania is an evolution from the original games in the series. Many techniques and subtle improvements are used that you may not even notice. Part of this is due to Sonic Mania featuring aspects that weren’t possible during the SEGA Genesis days.
Sonic Mania features full object scaling and rotation, for example. The special stages here have a much smoother frame rate. Also included are additional background planes, a much broader color palette, more complex sprite work, and more.
