Some Smash Bros. players encountering error codes that can brick Wii U systems
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 8 Comments
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U appears to be causing major issues for some users.
Players have encountered error code 160-0103, which may be caused by the game’s update data. The error seems to occur at random points though some say it happens after playing For Glory and booting the Wii U again.
Error code 160-0103 may stem from update data created by Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. While all other parts of the console can be accessed, the real trouble begins when launching Smash or the Data Management page.
Opening the latter results in error code 160-1710. After seeing this code, Wii U owners have encountered issues like complete Wii U memory wipes and bricked systems.
Those who came across the original error are apparently advised to format their systems. However, they’re then presented with the second error code with no option but to send in their console to Nintendo.
Despite all of these issues, Nintendo is said to be working on a fix.

Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Space Hulk is in development for Wii U, HR Games has announced. The game is due out sometime next year via the eShop.
Space Hulk is a 3D turn-based strategy game based on the best-selling board game. It takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Here’s an official overview:
Space Hulk is set in the isolated corridors and tomb-like chambers of an ancient vessel lost in the graveyard of space. Players lead a small army of fearless Space Marine Terminators to battle in a ferocious fight for survival against hordes of predatory alien Genestealers. Based on the “Sin of Damnation” campaign from the 3rd edition board game, Space Hulk includes a robust 12 mission single-player campaign, a co-operative campaign, Blood Angel and Space Wolf Chapters and many other thrilling missions! Recreating the tense battles of the board game, multiplayer mode will allow players to go head-to-head as one player controls the Space Marines and their opponent the Genestealers, in the ultimate fight for domination.

Scott Moffitt says eSports helped reignite interest in Smash Bros., talks Nintendo audience
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 1 Comment
alistdaily has a new interview up with Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. You can find the full discussion here, though there are a couple of noteworthy excerpts that we’ve highlighted below.
On the topic of how eSports has played in the success of Super Smash Bros., Moffitt said:
There does seem to be a ton of pent-up demand for this franchise. ESports has helped to rekindle gamers’ love for this franchise and really prepare the environment for a fantastic launch. I do believe that the record sales are due to a lot of the pre-awareness activity that has gone on, including eSports. The 3DS game also helped satisfy gamers’ demand temporarily before the Wii U game. ESports is one of the things that has helped drive the pre-launch excitement for this game to a fever pitch.
Moffitt also said the following on how the Nintendo gaming audience differs from that of Sony and Microsoft:
