Arkedo co-founder Aurelien Regard is currently working on “The Next Penelope”. It’s a retro racing title that seems to take inspiration from the likes of F-Zero.

The Next Penelope is being built with the Construct 2 engine, which the Wii U supports. Wouldn’t that make it a perfect fit for the eShop? At the very least, Regard appears to be interested…

WHAT:

On March 9, Nintendo is hosting an invitation-only event for celebrities and media to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Yoshi’s New Island game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. In the game, launching March 14, Yoshi bashes and thrashes his way through an island by throwing around Mega Eggdozers, which are huge egg-shaped objects that can destroy anything in their path.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in fun Yoshi-themed activities like seeing celebrities decorate a five-foot-tall Mega Eggdozer. Attendees can also get hands-on time with Yoshi’s New Island and enjoy special beverages and snacks.

Batman: Arkham Origins may very well be the series’ final appearance on Wii U – unless you want to count the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition. Rocksteady’s latest entry in the franchise – Batman: Arhkam Knight – was announced today, but there’s no Wii U version in sight. For what it’s worth, PS3 and Xbox 360 releases aren’t planned either.

Shuuhou Imai, director of the Tokyo Majin Gakuen series and Mato Kurenai Yuugekitai, plans on announcing a new game for the 3DS this week.

Imai wrote on his blog:

“Even though we finished working on Yuugekitai, what with making Yugekiwalker and following the progress of other projects, it’s like there’s no time to relax. Rather than thinking about being able to take any holidays during Obon, I was worried about launching it in time.”

“Also, this week I’ll be able to release information about the new 3DS game that I wrote about previously, the one I wrote and directed.”

It doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing Imai’s reveal in Famitsu, as news from the magazine has already leaked without word on the title. Still, we’re just a matter of days away from the official announcement.
