Shuntaro Furukawa

After Shuntaro Furukawa was officially named Nintendo’s next president this week, the company’s CSR Report was updated. Included with that was a message from Furukawa himself.

As part of Nintendo’s “Management Policy”, a second note from Furukawa was shared. This one is a bit longer and also officially in English. You can read it in full below.

In a recent issue of Famitsu, the Japanese magazine published a pretty lengthy interview with Pokemon president Tsunekazu Ishihara. Ishihara had plenty to say about Pokemon: Let’s Go: Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee as well as the 2019 entry, the Poke Ball Plus, Pokemon GO, and more.

We’ve gone ahead and prepared a full translation of Famitsu’s interview. Read the full discussion with Ishihara below.

With a new Smash Bros. game comes new amiibo. Ridley, Inkling, and Daisy were previously confirmed to be getting figures. They won’t be the only ones, however.

Nintendo has confirmed that amiibo are planned for other returning fighters. Ice Climbers and Pichu have been specifically named. We should eventually be seeing the likes of Young Link, Wolf, and hopefully Snake among others.

My Nintendo has been updated with a handful of rewards in North America. These include discounts as well as a July calendar / wallpaper for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Here’s the full lineup:

One of the more popular topics coming out of E3 is the idea of streaming games. Ubisoft’s CEO is on the record as having stated that he believes there will be one last console generation before streaming takes over. We’ve also seen both first and third-party companies explore that area in more recent years.

As for Nintendo, they’re taking a more conservative approach. While the Big N is aware of the talk surrounding streaming, nothing has been decided, according to Shinya Takahashi. The company would also “have to determine what is a very Nintendo approach to that if we were to ever do such a thing”.

Best Buy is the latest retailer to be taking orders for the NES Classic Edition restock. You can purchase the system here. Note that it’s unclear how much inventory is available, and how long it’ll be on Best Buy’s website.
