Super Mario-kun manga getting an English release as “Super Mario Bros. Manga Mania”

Update (4/6): This is now up for pre-order on Amazon Canada. Meanwhile, for whatever reason, it’s now unavailable on Amazon US – we’ll let you know if that changes.
Original (3/31): The Super Mario-kun manga has been ongoing in Japan since 1991. While the series has never been localized into English previously, that’ll be changing this year.
Viz Media has announced that it will offer an English version under the name “Super Mario Bros. Manga Mania”. Rather than releasing individual volumes, it sounds like we’ll instead be receiving a highlights compilation.

Super Mario 64 fans discover smoke effect is glitched after more than two decades, fixed with a single line of code
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Super Mario 64 has been around since 1996. Yet it wasn’t until today that a new discovery was made, and it has nothing to do with a speedrun or anything along those lines. Rather, it turns out that the game has a piece of buggy code, resulting in some incorrect animation relating to Mario.
The glitch comes down to the smoke Mario emits when he’s touched fire. Tucked away inside the game’s files is a better looking smoke particle. Just one line of code was updated to access it – “G_IM_FMT_RGBA” was changed to “G_IM_FMT_IA”, and then everything displays as it should.
Here’s a comparison between the two versions (original vs. fixed):

With the lack of Fatal Frame games in recent years, fans have been very much anticipating a new entry. We asked series producer Keisuke Kikuchi about the possibility of the franchise appearing on Switch a few months ago, and while he seemed potentially interested, no promises were made.
We saw the strong fan reaction after we published our article and decided to give things another go by asking Kikuchi about Fatal Frame once again. We also brought up the possibility of remasters since we know that’s something some of our readers expressed interest in.
Here’s our full exchange with Kikuchi:

E3 2021 dated
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
E3 2020 isn’t happening, and as such, the ESA is turning its attention to next year’s show. E3 2021 will run between June 15 and June 17, the organization announced.
The ESA intends to hold a “reimagined” event next year. Naturally there isn’t much in the way of more significant information as we’re over a year out.
Previously, the ESA said it was “exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020.” There have been no updates on that front, however.

Levi’s x Super Mario collection seeing a delay in North and South America due to coronavirus
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Mario fans in North and South America will need to wait a bit longer to get their hands on Levi’s new clothing and accessories collection. Due to the coronavirus, there have been “slight product delays”.
Levi’s hasn’t said when we can expect to see the Super Mario line in those two regions. However, given the wording, it sounds like there won’t be a massively long wait.
We have more information about the Levi’s x Super Mario collection here.
