germany best selling games 2021

GamesWirtschaft recently shared a list of the best-selling games of 2021 in Germany, and a few Nintendo titles made the list.

A number of older Switch titles appeared on the chart, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #3, Ring Fit Adventure at #9, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons at #19. In terms of games that came out in 2021, we see Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury at #6, Mario Party Superstars at #8, and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond at #12.

Metroid Dread difficulty

In a previous interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, Metroid Dread producer and longtime series contributor Yoshio Sakamoto spoke about how the development team landed on the game’s difficulty.

Though it’s considered harsh by some players, Sakamoto explained that E.M.M.I.’s punishing nature and the way players gradually learn to avoid it over time was designed to mirror how Samus gets stronger as she collects power-ups throughout the game.

Below is our translation of Sakamoto’s comments regarding the difficulty in Metroid Dread:

TLM Partners and MadLife Divertissement are back with another video for Zorya: The Celestial Sisters, their two-player cooperative puzzle game. Fans can get a look at the design choices behind the game directly from members of the development team, showcasing the desolate lands of Vyraj where the sun never sets.

NERF Legends update

A new update has been made available for Nerf Legends on Switch. It comes with some additions, a number of improvements, and bug fixes.

Baby Storm gameplay

New gameplay has come in for Baby Storm, which just hit Switch to close out the week. 16 minutes of footage is available.

Zelda Ocarina of Time Switch

With last night’s N64 app update as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, it appears Nintendo has made subtle improvements to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The app was updated in order to bring along Banjo-Kazooie. However, dataminers have discovered that Ocarina of Time has been revisited as well.

Underworld Dreams False King

Publisher Skystone Games and developer Drop of Pixel have announced that Underworld Dreams: The False King, a first-person horror game, is coming to Switch. It will be available sometime this spring.

According to Skystone, The False King is the first game in the forthcoming horror anthology series Underworld Dreams. The title, which is based on the works of HP Lovecraft (and Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow), takes place in the 1980s and “tells the story of a man who has tracked down his missing brother to a seemingly abandoned building that hides something much more sinister behind its decrepit walls.”

Horace physical

A physical version of the story-driven platformer Horace is on the way to Switch, it’s been announced. Super Rare Games will be in charge of distribution.

Horace appeared on Switch in October 2020, though only as a digital title. This marks the first time it will be available physically.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel gameplay

Gameplay has emerged for the Switch version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. This follows the surprise release from Konami this week.
