As is the case in Europe, Pixel Paint is confirmed for the North American 3DS eShop next week. The title will arrive on August 25 for $3.99.

Originally released for Wii U in October 2014, this new version has been converted for Nintendo’s portable. Here’s a brief overview:

“Pixel Paint is an easily-to-use painting package that let’s players draw retro-style graphics from the classic days of video games. Using the stylus players can paint pixel-by-pixel making
it easy to create pixel artwork seen in many indie games these days.”

New features for 3DS include a shape tool to draw circles, triangles, squares and lines, the ability to export images to an SD card as a .JPG file, and Easer.

Just like on Wii U, Pixel Paint will support the ability to upload and share drawings on Miiverse.

Axiom Verge still has a strong shot of landing on NX. On Twitter, the game’s official Twitter account mentioned that a port is “fairly likely”, though the lack of information about the system means it isn’t certain just yet.

The tweet reads:

The prospects of an Axiom Verge NX port first came about in April. It was said that a release for the new platform’s launch could be a possibility.

As we found out a few days ago, Axiom Verge is scheduled to hit Wii U on September 1. You’ll be able to grab the game as a digital download from the eShop on that date.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE certainly had an interesting development cycle. At one point, it was considered for 3DS. The team also thought about various genres. But in the end, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was made for Wii U as a mostly unique RPG that borrows some elements from Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei.

Going back well before development started, the game’s origins also have some ties to Pokemon, strangely enough. Nintendo director Hitoshi Yamagami revealed in a Nintendo Dream companion booklet at the end of last year that the company’s Kaori Ando “proposed a plan” that would have featured Pokemon and Fire Emblem. However, since a different proposal was floating around at the same time which would eventually become Pokemon Conquest, the idea was abandoned.

Here’s what Yamagami and Ando had to say about the situation, as translated by kantopia:

Niantic has since followed up with an official statement about the situation on its website. Head past the break to read it in full.
