Rumors

Update: Splatoon has now been changed to “May” on the site. Yoshi’s Woolly World and the Puzzle & Dragons package are listed for “2015”. Hmmm…

Nintendo UK’s press site may have outed launch dates for Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, Splatoon, and Yoshi’s Woolly World. According to the site, the three releases are slated for May 8, May 29, and June 26 respectively. Each one could very well be errors – or perhaps they’re spot on. It’s difficult to say at the moment.

For what it’s worth, World of Games (a retailer in Switzerland) lists Yoshi’s Woolly World for release on June 26 as well. You may also remember that when rumors about potential amiibo support for Splatoon surfaced, the “leak” came from a retailer that listed the title for May 29.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything concrete!

I’m not usually one to post tidbits coming from Nintendo representatives, in large part because they don’t always know what they’re talking about. However, some interesting information has surfaced from “D” over on NeoGAF, who spoke with a rep while at GameStop.

Below is a quick summary:

– West Coast port strike directly affected amiibo shipments
– Nintendo still has amiibo from January/February on shipping crates that haven’t been unloaded
– Amiibo for the newer wave (King Dedede, Sonic, etc.) were delivered by air
– This costs a lot of money, and Nintendo doesn’t intend to keep on doing that
– There will be a restock of older waves, especially for rare characters such as Wii Fit Trainer
– Nintendo only made so many since they thought there wouldn’t be much demand for some franchises with obscure characters
– Nintendo has been receiving a ton of emails from people that can’t find/are looking for these rare characters, and they are trying to do what they can to get them out there but due to the port strike
– A lot of those characters are still on the ships
– You should keep checking store for some of the older characters to appear
– amiibo for the upcoming wave (Ness, Charizard, etc.) are having their release dates and pre-orders held at due to the port strike and because Nintendo wants to make sure the situation with the strike will not affect shipments again
– Nintendo also wants to gauge the market for demand, which will determine how many to produce
– Once most of the cargo gets offloaded and the situation improves, Nintendo will talk to retailers about stock, and an announcement will be made
– Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL is gone
– It was truly a limited edition release
– There is no stock anywhere in any warehouse, and there are no plans for a restock
– Retailers were apparently informed about 6 months before the Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL release and ordered accordingly
– The rep didn’t know anything about a release date or Nintendo Direct for the remaining Mario Kart 8 or Mewtwo DLC
– Nintendo Directs are somewhat random in nature, and the rep doesn’t really get any sort of heads up
– If Nintendo wants to show gameplay of something, then the Directs are the only way they’ll do it

We can’t officially confirm that the information above is valid. It definitely sounds spot on though!

Another tidbit has come in regarding Warner Bros.’ rumored LEGO toys-to-life game. In a new article on VideoGamer, it’s said that the title is being developed under the working title “LEGO Dimensions”.

Nothing else was shared by the site beyond that. Warner Bros. has still yet to officially confirm LEGO Dimensions.

According a report from VideoGamer, Warner Bros. is working on a LEGO toys-to-life game that will release later this year. Traveller’s Tales is said to be making the title that will launch alongside compatible LEGO figures.

Assuming VideoGamer’s article is accurate, that means we’d be seeing three big LEGO games this year – LEGO Jurassic Park and LEGO Marvel’s Avengers being the other two. It’d also mean that Skylanders and Disney Infinity would have a new competitor.

With Nintendo announcing the discontinuation of Club Nintendo many of its members have been scrambling to make sure they can get enough coins to acquire their desired goodies before it goes away for good (I myself am one of those people!). This leads you to believe that there would be those that would try and find a way around getting those coins in an honest manner.

Last month a 4Chan user posted an exploit on how to get easy coins for Club Nintendo members. The exploit basically had you taking a confirmed code and changing a single number or letter until you got it to work. Sadly this proved so easy that eBay was then had people selling “generated” codes, as well as users redeeming multiple codes for free digital games. Some were also taking advantage of coins that had previously been able to be redeemed through the purchase of the Wii Mini.

Recently a number of Reddit users have posted that their accounts had been deactivated. There has yet to be any additional confirmation of the legitimacy of this claim or how wide spread the issue is.

There is a screenshot of what appears to be an email from Amazon Italy that states that there has been a delay to the release of Splatoon for Europe. The email goes on to say that the game has been delayed in Europe until July and would ship around July 2 – 7.

The email was posted on a European site that focuses on Nintendo related news and games. At this time there is no confirmation on whether or not this rumor has any credence but stay tuned as we will update as more information becomes available.

Update: (3/11/15) It’s not a mobile game as many had expected, but it isn’t for a Nintendo platform. The game is “Tembo The Badass Elephant” – read about it here.

The postcard above, coming from Game Freak and SEGA, was sent out to certain folks today. It seems to be teasing a potential collaboration between the two companies. I have no idea what this is about – and there’s a possibility that this has nothing to do with Nintendo – but I figured this was worth sharing!

Just a few days ago we reported that a retailer in South Africa had a few listings up for amiibo for the upcoming Splatoon. The amiibo listed had both “Boy” and “Girl” versions, plus a “Squid” edition that would be bundled with the game. Though nothing has been made official from Nintendo, it seems Splatoon’s eShop page makes mention of the usage of amiibo, further giving this evidence merit. Now though the amiibo compatible could very well be those previously released, it certainly makes you think if Splatoon-based amiibo really may be on the way. I, for one, certainly welcome the notion of having a Splatoon amiibo line.

Update: Just wanted to casually mention that the same retailer also has Greninja and Jigglypuff. I’m not making a big deal out of it since we know that every Smash Bros. character is getting an amiibo. There’s also a May 29 release date listed, but I’m not confident that it’s accurate.

Raru, a retailer in South Africa, has a few listings up for Splatoon amiibo. Pre-orders are live for “Boy” and “Girl” versions, plus a “Squid” amiibo bundle with the actual game.

There’s definitely a chance that these listings are nothing more than mistakes on Raru’s part, though they haven’t been entirely debunked… yet. We’ll leave you guys to speculate! Either way, would you purchase a Splatoon-based amiibo?

Has Meme Run been removed from the North American Wii U eShop? At the moment, that appears to be the case.

There’s no sign of the game on the eShop. Its Miiverse community is gone as well. However, Meme Run is still listed on Nintendo’s website.

We’ll keep track of the situation, and will update this post if any additional information comes in.
